Posted - November 17 2003 : 8:15:42 PM After looking at the tattoos and some posts on the website I am under the impression that Russell Means is not a pleasant person to be around. I hope I am mistaken but I know he is going to be at the 2004 Gathering and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on his personality. |

Posted - November 19 2003 : 7:38:24 PM I am glad to hear that he is a likeable feller. And if you feel he is good enough to be invited to the gathering than I have no worries...I put my faith in you rich. |

Posted - November 18 2003 : 7:24:31 PM What is it with Russell Means these days around here?
Just yesterday, a thread on him was started over at Against All Odds. See: Russell Means at the Indian Memorial Dedication. There's a link there to a story on him.
In addition - and I assume all this is coincidental - I received a rather "interesting" E-mail on him a couple of days ago. More on that in tomorrow's 7-MONTH Gathering Update.
Weird stuff.
Suffice it to say, he's an intriguing fellow! |

Posted - November 18 2003 : 08:16:58 AM The man has a set of beliefs and opinions... as we all do! Agree with him or not, right or wrong, one must admit that he gets up off of his rear and stands up for those beliefs. That, in itself, is something to respect.
I think he sounds like a very interesting person. |

Posted - November 18 2003 : 07:40:15 AM Glad to hear that, Rich. I must admit I've been a little worried about that. Once he gets here, though, and sees all us Gatherers, hopefully he will enjoy the atmosphere of the Gathering and the celebration of the film. |

Posted - November 18 2003 : 05:49:31 AM OK - I'll venture out on this one. Based mainly on 3 hours worth of phone conversations, and partly on heresy ...
Russell Means, no doubt, can be opinionated, overbearing, domineering, bordering on abusive, etc., etc. BUT, and I really mean this, underneath, once he lets down, he's quite a likable fellow with a good sense of humor. By the time we last hung up the phone with him, we both - Elaine & I - rather liked him. Didn't agree with him on a lot of things, but definitely liked him! We wouldn't have invited him if we felt otherwise! Plus, one of our favorite Mohicanlanders, Ros, works with him - another plus!
Besides, he has raved about LOTM - how bad can he be?!? |
