I was looking on Google.com for "Fort Bennington" to see the date of the battle. I found that the Bennington flag (which I was planning to fly on the 4th of July) is a 19th century thing, and was not used at the battle. And I always liked that flag! There goes another one. But in the process of looking, some other things showed up. Ever wondered what LOTM would be with another cast? Well, check this out:

It's a series called "Hawkeye" staring Lynda Carter. Maybe I am the only one, but I have never heard of it. And it was done in 1994. I must have been doing something else! Whoever runs this site is obviously a Lynda Carter fan (like who isn't), and he has written the synopsis of every episode, along with pictures. The only thing is, every time I look at her all I see is Wonder Woman, not that it's a bad thing, it's just not very 18th century.

The externals were filmed in British Columbia. The locations they picked were beautiful but the dialog was kinda soap opera.

The "Hawkeye" series pilot was released in DVD. I happened across a copy of it a couple of years ago in a deeply discounted assortment of DVDs. It's definately made for TV and syndication. Any research done to be properly period accurate that may have made it into filming was surely done if it was affordable. None the less it sure was fun to watch.

Lynda Carter's series husband was captured by indians and the ongoing subplot was that Hawkeye was making some sort of halfhearted attempts to bring him back.

Actulally more of a Lurkig Grenadier.

I am looking for this series on DVD or VHS. I really enjoyed it. Lynda Carter and Lee Horsley and the scenery - great stuff. You could tell it wouldn't make it to prime time (it was a syndicated series) because there was just not enough sex and violence. I am now reading the Cooper series, as we are traveling to upstate NY this summer and it is getting me into the feeling of the area.

I well remember this series too. I think Theresa is right and it was only on for a season. But it made for great Saturday night TV. First "Hawkeye" (which Jim watched solely because of Lynda Carter!) and then Dr. Quinn. Ahh, for the good ole days, eh Theresa?!? Jayne and I have decided that part of the opening scenes of "Hawkeye" were taken right from our beloved movie.

I will defer to her as princess of the Amazons but she is not Cora.
Also, her character was on "Hawkeye" was completely different. I believe she was married when the series began and her husband was killed off and she ran the trading post herself.

They called her Wonder Woman for a reason!

I watched this just because it was a chance to see the 18th century on television and I liked Rodney Grant from his role in "Dances with Wolves". Lynda Carter's character was basically too saccharine--definitely not our Cora. To me it was typical family fare--a sort of variation on Dr. Quinn. Lee Horsley, however handsome he may have been and I have enjoyed him in the past, is NOT Hawkeye.

Ahhhhh.... Man!! How could I possibly have missed a series with Lee Horsley in it???

I never heard of that one! I probably would have loved it! I was devastated when his series "Paradise" went bye-bye.

Fitz! What's not PC about that! I'm sure if they had Wonder Woman in the 18th Century they would have liked her.

I remember it too, Fitz. Rodney Grant played Chingachgook. It was pretty good. Not being an expert, I can't comment on how authentic it was, but to the untrained eye, it looked good.

I remember this series, too! I thought Lee Horsley did a pretty good job. I don't think it lasted but perhaps a season?....Thanks for the link, Fitz.

YES-indeedy Fitz, I remember "Hawkeye". AND I certainly remember Lee Horsley (not sure I spelled that right), no DDL mind you, but a fine specimen just the same!!!
