There's still time! Don't miss out on an exciting rafting trip down the beautiful Nolichucky River, hiking to the falls at Dupont, and breathtaking mountain views from Table Rock and Chimney Rock Park. We have an exciting lineup and a good group of Gatherers, a nice mix of veteran Gatherers and fresh faces! Click here for details: http://www.mohicanpress.com/2006_gathering.html Haven't registered yet? Do it now!

NEW!!!! The Mohican Finale Day is shaping up to be pretty exciting. The French Broad Rifles are our hosts again and some members will be on hand with their firearms for demonstrations. Bo Taylor from Cherokee will join us for a presentation (some of you know what a treat that is!) Also, new this year is a special guest, Geri Girard, who worked as a seamstress on the set of LOTM! Think you've heard all the behind-the-scenes stories and drama? Think again! You're going to love the pictures and stories she has to share.

Also... IMPORTANT FOOD ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the Mohican Finale Day. Pork BBQ will be provided! Yum!!!! We will need individual Gatherers to bring things like potato chips, baked beans, plates, napkins, drinks, slaw, and desserts. These are all things that can be picked up easily at a grocery store, so there is no need to worry about bringing a special dish or preparing one unless you just want to. I promise you are all in for a treat with this BBQ!!!!!!!

Some Mohican Gatherers have already hooked up with roommates for the lodging. We have one female who is looking for a roommate at this point. Please contact me at wncsteph@aol.com if you are interested in working out a roommate situation with this person and I will put you in touch.

I think that's all for today. Get those registrations in the mail and I'll see you in June!

Steph,
They are supposed to have a repeat of the Asheville segment on June 26th and 27th. Maybe we can all watch it then.

Love,
Kay

I think it was Gadget Girl who mentioned this a while back when the Food Network ran it the first time; it was over a year ago, can't remember exactly when. They have re-run the Asheville segment a few times but somehow I'm never able to catch it. I'd love to see it.

Rich you probably saw the pics of Rachael Ray they have on display at SOTR. Apparently the Cherokee dancers who have performed for us came and performed for her that day. Must've been a blast!
Sure wish I could catch that show!

Glad you mentioned that, Caitlin. I was completely baffled as to why our Spirits web pages were getting so many hits recently. I thought, "Man, those Gatherers are pretty hungry!" That explains it!

I was watching Rachel Ray's $40 A Day on the Food Network a couple of days ago and she happened to feature our LOTM area and was recommended to go to Spirits On The River for lunch! It was pretty cool!

Steph,
I have already got the plates, napkins, and plastic ware. I will still bring a couple gallons of tea. I will wait to see what else is needed when we get there. Only two more weeks to go!!!

Love,
Kay

Karen,
Thanks for signing up for trash bags... that's an important one. Bring some of those big strong ones!
I'll make a sign-up sheet to pass around during the Gathering for people to sign up to bring what they can. No need for anything elaborate... most of what we need can be picked up at a grocery store. There is an Ingles grocery store on Hwy 63 on the way to the FBR range, so items can even be picked up that morning on the way to the BBQ.
I agree about people bringing their own drinks, too. Simpler that way and each person can just get what they like. I do plan to bring some extra bottled water, though.
See you VERY soon!!
Steph

Hey Steph! Sorry to be so slow to make an offering here! I'm just having a hard time realizing that Gathering time is actually almost here. Anyway, I'd like to offer to bring trash bags as they will be easy to transport from Indiana. I will also bring some chips and cookies or something like that, but hope that others will be doing the same. Maybe it would be easier if everyone just brings their own drinks rather than you trying to provide them for everyone? Just a thought. Works for family reunions. Getting anxious to see everyone.

Pat and Yogi,
Awww I am sad to know that you and our favorite 4-legged Gatherer won't be able to make it. Well maybe next time. Now that you have a new computer at least you can log on and keep track of us during and after the Gathering; we'll try to post some pictures as soon as we can. We will miss you!
Harri,
Wish you could join us too! We've had a few Europeans join us before, so it's not entirely out of the question. Maybe next time for you too! Thanks for your thoughts.

Stephanie

Hi Steph and other fellow gatherers,

Sorry to check in so late. I've had major computer woes this year culminating in a total system crash that wiped out practically everything. Long story short, I had to buy a whole new system and now I'm broke.
I soooo wish I could be with you guys this June--hike the trails and hear the tales, but alas, Yogi and I will have to sit this one out.
We will be thinking of you all with great envy! Hope to see you at the next gathering in 2007?

Have fun!
Pat & Yogi

Darn I'm jumping out from my pants when i'm reading about all what you have planned for this years gathering. I really wanted to join you and I even had some plans to come, but Finland is pretty far and I have to admit that it is just too expencive (at least for now, when I'm a student)to fly all the way from here. But I'm hopeful that gatherings are going on for many many years and some year I have change to come. Anyway I wish you all nice time for this years gathering!

Two more Gathering registrations received today!! This is exciting because we have several brand new Gatherers and several repeat Gatherers as well so it looks like an interesting balance. Can't wait to see old friends and meet the new ones, too!

Oops, Kay thank you for starting our picnic list! You've gotten it off to a great start. Some other things we will need:

buns
slaw
potato chips
desserts
drinks
trash bags
ice
baked beans

Folks, that's all I can think of right now; please feel free to add to the list and sign up for whatever you can bring!

Yes, Fitz, It's looking good for SOTR. I spoke with Flip the other day and there are no buyers on the immediate horizon. He sounded hopeful about still being around in June. I'll check back with him soon and re-confirm, and see if he needs our menu selections in advance. So, stay tuned!

Gathering Gadget announcement coming SOON!
Kaylynn44 Posted - April 23 2006 : 4:40:22 PM
Hey Steph,
The pork barbecue sounds good!!! I can bring anything that you need. Do you want to do a list so that we make sure that we have everything covered? I will start it off, and then if anybody else wants to bring anything, they can add their name and what they will bring, so come on gang, let's make sure that we have everything for the barbecue dinner.

Kay- Sweet tea, plates, napkins, spoons and forks.

Love,
Kay
