Posted - November 26 2004 : 8:54:58 PM If my information is correct, Eric Schweig attended one of the Mohican Gatherings. Since you all here know how much I love the guy (but sadly have never met him) I was wondering if any of you guys that have met him at the Gathering, could tell me what he was like? If you have any stories to share with me about him and everything I would love to hear one. So just if you have met him tell me what hes like, please. Thanks!

JO! So good to "see" you on the board! We miss you!
LOL! I wish I would have been the one brave enough to venture forth first! I was too nervous! I can't remember who it was that first approached Eric, but I remember one of your sisters (was it Mary?) making a move and then everyone started relaxing and getting in line. My husband actually had to go up and ask Eric to sign the program for me and then asked him if I could take a picture with him and then pulled me up there (bless his heart, especially since I was the one drooling over the guy! ). I now have that photo along with a photo of Eric signing the program with Jeff and Rich on the side looking on... great photo! In fact, let me show it to you

And thank YOU Caitlin; Jeff still has the camera attached to the eye or did he finally give it UP?? Must be his birthday near here/ happy Birthday to you! Jeff!
You remembered! Jeff says thank you for the birthday wishes! It was on the 12th! And yes, he still has it attached, though I think he prefers spending his birthday on the River Walk! He fondly remembers everyone singing Happy Birthday to him that day!

Posted - June 25 2005 : 03:29:10 AM Uncas Girl (Heather?) I am sorry I don't get on the board as much as I did in the past; you wanted to know some Uncas stories and what he was like? well, I can say, image being in an outdoor type of an area, a covered area and underneath this covered roof was picnic tables; two together/aisle between and a parking lot out beyond the end of this covered "picnic table" area; where, about 60 or so people, at least 2/3's of them trying to eat - pretending to that is but really not at all, dying to see MR. Schwieg; and all of a sudden, when the end of your meal comes; and maybe you believe rumors are true he won't show up...down the gravel parking lot from a car dropping him off, this very handsome figure walks up into this pavillion at which at least most of the food that hasn't been eaten is never touched again; Rich meets HIM; HE sits down at the front picnic table and the rest of us, bringing napkins up to our mouths, to catch the drool...oh slap my hand, I'm old enough to be his MOM, (Chris, where are you???); he sat there for awhile with his, what, escort; his handler; but after awhile (about 15 minutes) I forget, someonw walked up to him - was it you Caitlin??? you'd been planning this the whole dinner???!!! to ask him for his autograph/picture...whatever; after that a line formed but he was VERY gracious about the whole thingy. And here I will digress, my sisters and I; the "Sweetsers" who have attended 4 out of 5 Gatherings, approached to have our picture taken with him; well , the (I will brag a bit here....) entire place started clapping and whatnot, so many people came up to take his/our pic with him; he was so relaxed and smiling; well, that is what the Sweetsers are and that is my story. Mr. Schweig was more polite than I would ever had been...
Jo And thank YOU Cailin; Jeff still has the camera attached to the eye or did he finally give it UP?? Must be his birthday near here/ happy Birthday to you! Jeff! |

Posted - March 08 2005 : 7:18:54 PM Heather, I think I remember you. If you are who I think you are, I think it was you who actually planted the seed of showing the movie at the Gatherings. You worked for UA Theaters, or something ... it was you who first made me realize it wouldn't be all that expensive to pull off.
You?
Welcome back! |

Posted - March 08 2005 : 4:10:31 PM I can't believe I actually missed that! I was supposed to attend one of the first gatherings in 1998 (?), but was unable to and then life took me away from the site. (good to be back though!) I'm glad he was such a cool guy! |

LOL! Well, you'll have to go through the past Gatherings to get an idea about their antics! They are a great bunch of lovely ladies who love life and have an insane wit about them! Never a dull moment! |

Posted - November 29 2004 : 12:13:09 AM Well, I remember everyone was trying to be respectful and not go gaa-gaa over him when he showed up at Chimney Rock. Finally, the Sweetser sisters, gotta love them, started talking to him and taking pictures and after that, the mood lightened.
I was nervous, in fact my husband got his autograph for me and encouraged me to take a photo with him! Eric was very much the gentleman and spent time taking pictures and talking to everyone. He was tall, quiet and smoked. I couldn't help imagine that he was thinking the whole Gathering thing was a bit of a mystery to him, but at the end of the evening, I think that he realized that we were all normal and just appreciated the history, the actors, and of course the movie. I'm sure Rich has more insight on him, but I will say, aside from my husband, he still was nice eye candy!
