Posted - July 06 2002 : 10:07:55 AM Good morning Mohican Friends. Hope your holiday weekend has been a good one.
I received email from our friend the Major sending his well wishes to everyone and expressing his regret he could not be in attendance at this year's Gathering. He inquired about the Ping and Shrub. Does anyone remember who won these and if they were auctioned, what they went for? Since I wasn't one of the lucky ones to be on the receiving end of either one of these items I couldn't give him the information. If anyone recalls, please let me know and I'll be happy to give him the news.
He says he's been extremely busy with reenacting on the weekends. Hopefully, he and Sarah will find a way to rejoin us for the Sixth Annual Great Mohican Gathering. We missed them.

Posted - July 09 2002 : 06:34:57 AM Are you serious about the Ping? Phil couldn't take it home?????
Anyway ...
Karen & Phil: Phil's got computer pieces arrayed all over the floor & is trying to put 'em back together. [Where's the Ping when it's needed?] Karen anxiously awaiting her Uncas pics ... alas, no word from Scottie, yet!
Kathy, Mark, & Nathan: Home safely, had a great time ... anticipating next year!
Eileen, Dennis, Rachel, & Scott: E-mail appears defunct, but I do know they're home, well, and almost recuperated!
Oooops! You said, the Millers [I gave you the Morgans] ... haven't heard a peep from them yet ... they were continuing on a trip, before returning home, I know that. Chris Boone still hasn't made it home!!!!

Posted - July 08 2002 : 8:08:10 PM Last I heard, Phil was trying to find a new home for his bottle because of the airline rules or something like that. Anyway he said he couldn't take it on the plane. Speaking of Phil, anyone heard from him or Karen? Or the Whitneys? Or the Millers? Steph

Posted - July 08 2002 : 10:17:41 AM Thanks, folks for this information. I've replied to the Major's email and passed it along to him.
Marc, the Major was aghast that you would even consider waiting a whole year to open the Ping. He strongly recommended chilling it due to the fruit factor (no preservatives). He suggested someone buying another bottle next year and sharing it there. (Sounds like we have something else to look forward to!) So, go ahead...indulge.
If I remember correctly, Patrick won a bottle and Phil did as well. I infomed the Major that plans were under way for next year and to see to it he was there. If the plans go through for the French Broad Muzzleloader Day...well, I think he and Sarah would definitely consider that.

Posted - July 06 2002 : 5:17:15 PM Well Theresa,
You can take my name OFF the list. I didn't win ANY libatous material! No PING, No SHRUB, NO BRANDY - BLAST YOU, NATHAN.
But wait...what am I complaining about. I won the David Wright print, the auction bid on a lovely copper feather that will hang right beside my "The Huron" print, and a wonderful handmade Ann Colby choker and earrings (My department Chairman asked the other day, "Ummm, Diana, have you got some native thing going on?", and I said "Don't you worry about it".)
...but I suuuuuuuuuuuuuure do love Brandy and Ping!

Posted - July 06 2002 : 4:35:47 PM Please let the Major know I won the high bid on the bottle of Ping that was auctioned. I believe I won it for $25 or $28. Could you please ask him how long a bottle, if not opened, would keep? I'd like to bring it to the next Gathering so I can share it with others. But... if it won't keep, I'd happily... ummm... regrettfully drink it myself.
Also, let him know that I was very impressed with the labling and such. Quite professional looking...
Thanks, Marc

Posted - July 06 2002 : 2:32:45 PM As I recall, the decision was made to put one bottle of each in the raffle, and auction one bottle of each. I won the raffled bottle of June Rum shrub. Since it says to age it for 3 months, I am saving it for my birthday in September!!! Woohoo! Thank you Major! Stephanie
