Oh, I thought he was just trying to blend in with the locals there. See? Look at this German clothing line, touted as "traditional and cosmopolitan":

Posted - February 29 2008 : 3:52:26 PM I guess I got Sprockets because I unfortunately had a lot of the odd artsy types portrayed on Sprockets at my college in Yonkers, NY. There was one guy from Switzerland who looked so much LIKE Sprockets that people used to go up to him and ask "Do you want to touch my monkey?" He never got it. trust me, however, Sprockets was based on REAL PEOPLE!!!
thank God DDL looks nothing like those people...I think I could probably handle him even in a bad Sprockets outfit. |

Posted - February 29 2008 : 1:45:46 PM You know, I loved SNL but I never "got" Sprockets. That was one of those that made me scratch my head. Now, Ed Grimley, THAT was funny. |

Yes, Sprockets is hilarious. A bunch of em' would run onto stage afterwords and do that strange little dance. lol |

Posted - February 28 2008 : 10:21:18 AM German fashion was even scarier when they wore those red armbands with the black swastika in a white circle... |

Posted - February 28 2008 : 09:46:08 AM German clothing has always kind of scared me. Anybody remember the spoof skit of "Sprockets" on Saturday Night Live where a scary goth type guy in black yelled "Touch my monkey" and danced strangely? That character, Dieter, always embodied German fashion for me. And these pictures reinforce my feelings. |

Perhaps he made them. Wasn't he living in Italy for a while, learning how to make shoes?
Good thing he's an actor!!!
And especially good he's not a fashion consultant. |

Posted - February 26 2008 : 10:11:26 AM He's had those shoes for years and they've made many appearances in weird circumstances. Somebody on another website suggested they may be his "lucky" shoes.

Posted - February 25 2008 : 09:00:50 AM He sure does and seems like such a "sweetheart" very shy and endearing. Really looking forward to seeing this movie. Have you seen it Diane and is it indeed excellent?. From the clips I've seen it does look like DDL deserved his oscar. |

Posted - February 25 2008 : 12:33:16 AM Congratulations, indeed! After 4 nominations, DD-L now has his SECOND Oscar (and he DEFINITELY should have won for his portayal of Bill the Butcher in GONY too!)! Can't believe it's been 20 years for him since his last win for "My Left Foot" but it's great to see him getting the recognition he so richly deserves!
And his acceptance speech was AWESOME! He first thanked Rebecca & then he dedicate the win to his grandfather, his father, and all THREE of his sons (Gabriel, Ronan & Cashel).
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS ROCKS!!! |
