Posted - October 17 2007 : 5:33:00 PM Hello mohican brothers and sisters,
I hope that life has been kind to you all since I last was here. Life has been very busy for me and I have missed spending time here with you. I have been off exploring cyberspace in what little free time I have had and I just wanted to share this with you, my friends. A contemporary Native American band by the name of Brule, also performing as AIRO.... Their music is beautiful, spell-binding, fabulous... Why do I post this here in "The meaning of life" you ask... Well, my discovery of this group led me to read about their drummer, Moses Brings Plenty, who I feel has a very important message about life. It is best read, I feel, in it's original place, on his myspace site. If you want to read it, go to www.myspace.com, type "brings plenty" in the search box and I'm sure you'll find him. It is in the section titled "Brings Plenty Blurbs" "About me". (As an added bonus, sisters, he is absolutely gorgeous!) Move over Uncas, Moses has arrived!! Beautiful on the outside and a wise and beautiful soul, what more could one ask for? There is a youtube video on his myspace site, and more videos on youtube which you absolutely have to watch. I hope you'll take the time to read his message and enjoy Brule's captivatingly beautiful music.
Toksa ake,
Shaz

You're welcome blackfootblood. I agree, the videos are fabulous too. If you have some more time up your sleeve, go to YouTube and look up "Vision Quest" by Brule. Talk about a powerful video!!!

Posted - October 22 2007 : 10:32:00 AM Hey, Paazau! I just got finished reading it this morning. Had some extra time to sit. Very powerful message like you said. I also watched a few videos on his site, especially enjoyed the one about saving the buffalo. Thanks for posting the link! But I think Moses should change his name to "hair blows in face" LOL! Thanks again! |

Posted - October 22 2007 : 09:09:22 AM Sorry P haven't gotten around to reading it yet, too busy drooling over pics. I will though.

Posted - October 22 2007 : 01:07:55 AM ok sisters. I'll post that pic and some others of Moses in "Pic of the Day" so you can drool to your hearts' content.. but c'mon who has read his message?? Anyone??? I really don't want to copy the whole thing here 'cause it has soooo much more power when reading it on his myspace page. The music on his page is powerful too. Took me a few tries to be able to really listen to it 'cause it's rap but it has a forceful message.
Here's an excerpt from Moses' myspace blurb for those of you who can't access myspace: <snip> "The lives and deaths of our ancestors what do they mean to you and how are you living in this day to show your thanks for what they have done and do for you and will your actions give life to those of tomorrow just as our ancestors had given you life? that is what a real Human Being would ask himself/herself with each new day that they are given. So live life without FEAR for the sake of tomorrow. Be a real Human Being and that is also for the non-natives that take the time to read this. So no more excusses! Jesus, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull, great human beings, why? because they never made an excuss, they just did, for who? YOU!!!! Don't let the good things of life end with you....I am who I am so who are you?."

Posted - October 18 2007 : 08:20:12 AM Hi Irish! I know it does seem like forever doesn't it? Thank you for your kind words. I'll try not let it go so long next time.
People do seem to come and go, but an old friend is just as nice to run into as a new one - and you all are friends to me. All of you pop up in my thoughts now and again.
I hope all is well with you and your family Irish. You have to see him drumming - the photo is nothing by comparison!
and read his words.. they may not be as mucn a 'slap-in-the-face' to everyone as they were to me; I've been very disillusioned of late; but it's better to read something you already know then to miss out on something you don't. And if people don't see things they way he does, that's fine too. We all have a choice.
Well, Christina, hop on over to youtube and that'll make your month! You can also go to www.brulerecords.com and buy thier dvd of the AIRO 2006 holiday tour they did. Well worth the money. (I bought one!)
Hi Kaylynn, thank you as well for your kind words. I hope all is well with your and your family as well. I will try not to be so long next time. I fixed up the link in the message (removed it actually 'cause it didn't work for me either). You can definitely find him by doing a search on myspace. I hope you found the band and Moses' videos on you tube.
There is also a replay of a broadcast of one of their recent concerts on ustream.tv, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/indigenous-peoples-music - it's under "past clips", the hostname is nativemusic. I tested this link this time and it works.
As my luck would have it Brule are touring Arizona at present - (Scottsdale, Carefree and Fountain Hills; I got married in the park at Fountain Hills 22 years ago - wow how time flies!) - and I'm w-a-a-a-ay over here in Australia!!! If any of you folks over there get a chance to go and see them, send me a psychic link-up so I can enjoy it with you.
Paul LaRoche, who founded Brule, has an amazing story to tell, and a message of peace and reconciliation he is delivering through his music and concerts. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
