Posted - October 25 2004 : 9:07:59 PM If you have been reading "Muzzleloader" magazine, you have already read this book. If you are missing a few issues, you are in luck. This compilation contains the articles from 1986 through 1995. It even has the LOTM article. There are great primary references and excellent methods for finding the basis for a persona. Mark's writing is fun to read and makes you think. He concentrates on longhunter of the middle colonies in the 1760s but the articles cover earlier and later times and many areas of the country. |

Posted - October 27 2004 : 09:27:50 AM Mark was at Kings Mountain back in September giving talks in their theatre and signing his book. I got him to sign my copy of Sons of the Tractless Forest and bought a hardback of his new book. The hardback is going for around $75, but I figured that as long as I was getting it signed, may as well be hardback.
By the way, unless you actually see the book being signed, it's a safe bet that it was signed by someone else (usually a gopher). And the Certificates Of Authenticity you get on ebay are nice for starting fires. |

Posted - October 26 2004 : 3:17:32 PM don't forget about 'sons of a trackless forest', by him also, lots of primary source info and a bit repetitive, but lots of stuff, and its about 2 1/2 inches thick... he is a real character, and his lotm experiances show it... |
