It is about Bill's sudden need to walk the Appalachian Trail, and everything from his initial purchasing of equipment, to his research into 'ways you can die on the A.T.', to the arrival of his faithful sidekick Stephen Katz...is absolutely hilarious!

Theresa	Posted - May 19 2003 : 07:52:46 AM Hey Huggy! Thanks for reminding me about Bill Bryson. I have "In a Sunburned Country" on my shelf here. I bought it for my daughter after we returned home from Australia and have never read it. As soon as I finish the current book I'm reading (not really good and definitely not worthy of a mention here) I will pull it and give it a read. Thanks again...and I agree with you about this being a good forum. Thanks, W.W. for suggesting it.
richfed	Posted - May 19 2003 : 06:12:31 AM I read "The Lost Continent" some time ago, Huggy. In fact, there's a thread somewhere in the old board's archives on that book. As you say, Bryson is hilarious ... has a knack for causing spontaneous outbursts of laughter. This book, by the way, is about his automobile tour of the USA. Great reading through & through!
