32nd Annual
Kalamazoo Living History Show is Set to Go!
March 17-18, 2007

The theme of this year show is Fort Ouiatenon, the first European settlement in what is now the state of Indiana. Situated across the Wabash River from a large Native village, Ouiatenon played an important role in the conflicts between the French, British, Americans, and Native tribes.

Historians: Larry Chowning, Rick Conwell, and Mary Moyars-Johnson will present the following programs Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, 2007, to focus on Fort Ouiatenon’s vital importance as a center of trade and maneuvering point for empire.

· 10:30 “Ouiatanon- Pieces of the Puzzle” Mary Moyars-Johnson

· 12:30 "Interpretations of an Archaeological Field Season at Ouiatenon” Larry Chowning

· 2:30 "Life’s Left Behinds-The Archaeological Evidence of the Material Culture of Ouiatenon” Rick Conwell

The Tippecanoe County Historical Association, Lafayette, Indiana, will host a large display of artifacts from Fort Ouiatenon’s archaeological collections. These artifacts will be on display in Room “C” both days of the show.
