Posted - May 03 2006 : 4:27:06 PM Just a reminder that the Jacobite Wars will be seen again (the '45 to us of Highland traditions!). May 19 to 21 (public days are may 20 to 21) Jacobites and English Gov't forces (Hanoverians) will converge on Ft. Loudoun, 15 miles west of Chambersburg, PA on route 30. This will be a visual smorgasbord...over 100 Jacobites and about 60 Gov't forces, plus another 50 or so camp followers and children will be present, kilts and redcoats galore. about 7 artillery pieces, large camps, some sutlers, and the simple stockade of Ft. Loudoun. A battle on each day: Saturday will be Prestonpans and Sunday will be the bloody debacle of Culloden. The bonnie Prince, Charles Edward Stewart, and his adversary, Frederick, Duke of Cumberland, the Butcher, will both be present. email me if you want more info. It will be a great event. It is always difficult to get Gov't troops for Jacobite wars (everyone wants to be Jacobite!!), and I believe this is the largest army of Hanoverians ever raised to fight those nasty Hielanders!! Yours Aye! Loch Moig Malcolm, Sjt. Major, 77th Grencoy (AND commander Clan Chattan) |
