Posted - April 23 2005 : 10:18:15 AM Hello all,
I went to the Ft. Frederick Market Faire yesterday and I have to say it was amazing. This is the first event of this kind that I"ve been to, and I had a great time. The weather was a bit cold and wet, but it was still very busy. There was a demonstration in teh afternoon on the firearms, accouterments and equipment of the 18th century along with a live fire demonstration comparing many different firearms of the period. And then there were the vendors...rows and rows of tents with everything you could imagine or need. I was able to find myself a pair of wool leggings for $20, and considering the cost of buying the wool to make them myself would have been $17, it was a pretty good deal. I was able to get a look at the many different petterns and fabrics for period clothing, for everything from the gentleman (and gentlewoman) to frontier related articles. And the gunsmiths and dealers, powder horns, leather goodies of all kind, book and more books...hours and hours spent shopping and drooling. By far my most favorite part, though, was talking to the different reenactors. Everyone was very polite and friendly, and more than helpful in answering my questions (I have to give a special "shout out" here for the two gents I met from the Snowshoe Men (www.snowshoemen.com) as they were really helpful and friendly.) It was nice to get a lot of positive feedback on my outfit, and I really learned a lot about the longhunter lifestyle and many new ideas to further refine and improve my kit. I took some photos that I'll be getting back soon, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll e-mail them to you.
Best,
Steve |

Are you going to be at Ticonderoga? [/quote]
Yeah, that would have been great. Maybe next time, or another event! I may try to make it up to Ticonderoga, I'll have to see. If I do, I'll definately let you know.
Best,
Steve

The Snowshoemen are a FIRST CLASS act, for sure, and it soooooo good to see folks like them. I have been several places they wer, and it always pleases me to see them.
