I am doing a presentation and would love to use some visual aids for these weapons symbolized in Cooper's book...

Here is a photo of some of the knives and tomahawks used in the movie: http://www.winklerknives.com/knives.asp?id=35 Dan Winkler is one of the knifemakers whose creations were used in the movie (and he's also a resident of western NC).
Thankyou SO MUCH!! WOOHOOO I am going to email the man and ask him if I can use some pictures from his web page. THANKS AGAIN!!!
I emailed Mr. Winkler and he promptly emailed me back. Very nice man! He gave me permission to use any pictures I wanted.. He even offered to email me some, or mail me a disc of pictures. Not very often you find somebody that nice and helpful online.. Well, except in this forum lol.. Thankyou everyone!!

I'm assuming you mean the fowl killdeer (forgive me, my cooper's a bit rusty) http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i2730id.html
I think she mean's Hawkeye's rifle, Killdeer, 42ndNCO ...
Here's a pic from our site [not the original, but made by the same gunsmith, Wayne Watson ...]:

May not be the best examples, but can get you going in the right direction.

A "short-barreled" musket or rifle could mean a: smooth bore "canoe" gun or blunderbuss http://www.caywoodguns.com/canoe_gun.htm ...or... http://www.militaryheritage.com/musket9.htm
smooth bore Brown Bess style carbine or trade musket http://www.militaryheritage.com/images/carbine1.jpg
rifled barrel weapon (like Hawkeye would've employed) http://www.possibleshop.com/muzzleloadingrifles1.htm
May not be the best examples, but can get you going in the right direction.
Good Luck!
