Posted - August 30 2002 : 6:42:50 PM Hey,I like this forum! Presently doing alot of family research which is taking me all around.Been down to old Virginy this summer looking for the site were my GG Grandfather was ambushed by the rebs in 1863.Also went to Scituate,Mass.were there is a spot on the Atlantic shore named after my 12th great-grandfather,Richard Mann. The name of the place is Mann Hill founded in 1636.Very exciting! Now my next project is my Mom's side who are Gottscheers. My Mom is 100%Gottscheer. Gottscheers lost there land after WWII in which they resided for 600+ years. It is now known as Kocevje,Slovenia. There are only 350 Gottscheers left over there in a population of almost 3 million. Most Gottscheers are in Brooklyn and Queens,N.Y. were they have there own club. The language is Gottscheerisch, and it is almost dead.It is a Germanic language with Slovenian influence.Maybe one day I will be able to travel there and look for my Great-Grandparents graves and old farm.Who know's?

Posted - September 01 2002 : 3:33:54 PM Hey, Anth, what did you do during the summer??? Nothing much to report from Alberta. I worked and worked and only spent two days at a lake to relax...needless to say I also attended a number of soccer games. But that's about it..Sigh..
