Posted - February 27 2003 : 11:04:39 PM Went to post a reply to Rich's World Trade Center post in the "Den".
I thought it had gone through, but it wasn't there. So I tried again. This time I noticed the little transitional message said something to the effect that it would be posted as soon as it was "approved by a moderator".
What gives? |

Posted - September 17 2003 : 05:55:29 AM I just love when my "clarification" muddies the waters even more!!!
Yesterday, prompted by an e-mail I received, I sent out a mass mailing to all registered members of this board to try & clear this up. It didn't. Some folks, apparently, thought I had sent it just to them and that they had somehow done something wrong. Also, some moderators thought I was chastising them. Neither of the above!
Let me try again ...
No posts are moderated on this board. In other words, we do not have the posts you make go by a moderator for approval/disapproval before they are actually posted on the board.
Did try that, as explained above, on a very minimal scale, but chucked that idea.
Your posts appear, as is, as soon as you post them.
The moderators are here, along with me, as regular posters, but also to assist in removal of duplicate posts, etc, etc. We do very little in the way of true "moderation." Sometimes I fix a broken link or forum code in your posts. On rare occasions, intervention is necessary. No big deal, though. Mostly, this forum runs itself in that regard due to the quality of the posters!
Hope that settles the question!!! |

Posted - March 02 2003 : 07:09:28 AM As I thought, I had overwritten a file accidentally ... repaired that yesterday, so hopefully, that will fix the problem. Please let me know if you get "moderated" and think you shouldn't have!!
Here's what is [supposedly] moderated on this board:
The Lion's Den - new users only! The LOTM Fan Fiction Forum - all users
Moderators of those forums! Look for this icon . That indicates there's a post[s] awaiting your approval ...
If that doesn't work, we'll shuck the whole idea!

Posted - February 28 2003 : 6:48:40 PM Fixed! Actually, I fixed it right after I posted the above, but had no time to post to that effect.
Here's what happened ... I had set that forum to moderate posts by new poster only. Apparently, it was working, for though no new posters posted in that forum, others could normally. That was probably 6 weeks ago. Over this past weekend, I must've overwritten a file that included the code to allow that [new posters only moderated] and consequently everyone was being moderated. Only I didn't know that, so I wasn't looking for them, and the posts just sat there in limbo.
And, the reason I was toying at all is because I've had a few E-mails from folks who had tried to register but who kept getting rerouted to the policy page. I did a search and found this was due to firewalls - I applied the fix, and that's where I probably messed up the other thing.
So, now to find out how to combine the two ...
This job doesn't pay all that well when I stop & think about it!!!! |

Posted - February 28 2003 : 04:55:06 AM Wasn't supposed to be like that, Scott!!! Sorry 'bout that!!! Going to fix it now ...
Thanks for bringing it to my attention ... Your post is there now. Kind of like your vision [of the WTC complex], too!
EDIT ----> Well, not so fast! Try though I might, the software will not let me revert the settings in The Lion's Den forum until all posts pending moderation are approved or deleted! I've been scouring the threads trying to find the leftovers, but alas ... time to go to work!
Bea & Ilse, help me out here!!!
Meanwhile, The Lion's Den remains under inadvertant moderation! SORRY! |
