Posted - March 14 2004 : 10:24:52 AM Thankyou for the welcome. The music is actually great. I think it reflects the web site perfectly. The only problem is that it makes my browser load slowly, at times. The only thing I would do differently is add a player at the bottom of the page where viewers could have the choice to turn the music off, if they wanted.
Maybe that would cut back on complaints, and also the viewers interested in the music could see the song currently playing, thus increase their interest (and their knowledge of the song playing). Just an idea. Whatever is chosen, however, is fine by me. The music will not keep me from visiting. |

Posted - March 14 2004 : 07:10:39 AM You must be speaking of accessing those areas directly from the links on this board's default page [the only one that has music] - resulting in pop-up windows. In that case, the music will continue to play. As it stands right now, 2 choices ... either click those links on any other of the board's pages [where no music is playing] or turn off your speakers ...
About the music ... Probably no other single issue causes more comment - both positive & negative -than music playing on a web site. This one in particular. We get notes commending the choice and wanting to know if the music is on CD for purchase. Others we get state it is annoying or causes problems of one sort or another. What to do? A lovely tune ...
In any case ... WELCOME! |

Posted - March 13 2004 : 11:39:13 PM Hello, I'm new here. I have not been around long enough to see your prior board, but I think the present design is great, except for one thing. When I am surfing around in the history archives and storefront etc, how on earth do I turn off the music? LOL
Thanks |

Greetings, Sachem Rich!
It is good to see you, too! While I have been remiss in posting, you can rest assured that I have been "lurking" around here & checking in once or twice a day just about every day!
Off to check the rest of the most recent posts - you can be sure that I'll surface again elsewhere on the Board!
All the best to you & your beautiful family, |

Posted - February 11 2004 : 09:09:23 AM Sorry, Young-un! Didn't mean to ignore you; I guess the excitement of the new look just drew my thoughts away.
As I have said, you do great work. Most of your other banners are excellent, but the colors in this one seem j-u-u-u-st a little too dark and garish, and some of the stills are a bit squished.
Having said that... I LOVE the words you place along the top! "Love... Honor... Sacrifice" Those three words quite eloquently sum it all up, don't they?
Keep honing your skills! |

Posted - February 11 2004 : 01:15:39 AM No problem Rich.I understand.I just wanted to get some views.Yes,I noticed mine had a more "fan film" site look about it when your site goes after all the aspects....which is respectable. You did a good job! |

Posted - February 10 2004 : 06:55:53 AM Oh, Wade! Your banner is fine - just not what I'm looking for. We prefer a more comprehensive approach, rather than just on the 1992 movie. I'm not thrilled with mine, either - not being a graphics "person," I know what I want, but not how to exactly accomplish it. So, there are the results! |

Posted - February 09 2004 : 2:05:57 PM I am on dial-up, so I judge by that when I design. However, I know what you mean - it has been very, very, very slow of late ... as I said in my Weekly Update post - and it was reaffirmed to me today - it will be fixed, and blazing, by the weekend, good Lord willin' & the crick don't rise.
Can't do without the hand-hewn timbers, Bumppo's will cave in!!!
And, hey Rattlesnake! Good to see you!! |

Posted - February 09 2004 : 12:38:06 PM Pretty good but... even though I like the music on the main forum page, that combined with those snowflakes slows the loading time for those of us still on dial-up...at least for this chick. And the text on the wood image, like Author/Topic/Quick Reply/etc., could be read more easiy if they were on a solid color or muted texture. :)
I'm with those that say change is good, I'm always wanting to change the main page of one of my websites, and probably will until I come up with one that I really love. lol

Posted - February 09 2004 : 10:21:14 AM I'm with you Diana. As long as the board is here, that is all that matters!!! Even though I didn't have a problem with the blue text, I have to admit that the dark green does look better. Great suggestion Seamus. Ummmmmm, neon green and hot pink Di????

Posted - February 09 2004 : 10:05:18 AM I was the Cuckoo that voted for Neon green and pink. Could we make that Hot Pink though? Of course that would be a bit too close to Sweet Potato Queen colors. I am definitely one of the "as long as the board is here" crowd. I trust your judgement, and really like the new background (the other one matched my kitchen counters to a tee!...so I always thought of that) it has a much warmer feel! Hate I missed the blue lettering - all this was worked out before I saw it - so it looks great to me! Wade's banner has nice transitions of the images, but I really like the timeline idea of your banner. Perhaps a combination would be interesting?
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Like it!

Posted - February 08 2004 : 10:46:21 PM Fantastic!!!! Definitely Grade A-1!!!!! The new color scheme gives the board a more 'at home' look, and I agree with Seamus, the dark green works better for the text.

Posted - February 08 2004 : 10:11:39 PM Great Job Rich.I really like the paper/wood like backround. The green and brown text fits nicely. You did a good job with the update and it sure did come as a surprise!
I was surprised at how fast everyone said they thought I did the banner, but no...I didn'tLooks nice though. If you'd like Rich...I could make you a banner.I have some photos saved over my computer from LOTM and would go ahead and do it.It would give me something to do while I build up ideas for my book.
But again...you did a great job with the site Rich.I also recently updated my messageboard http://alamosentry.proboards24.com/index.cgi and think some of you may like it.
All the best, Wade |

Posted - February 08 2004 : 8:26:52 PM Hmmm ... trouble is, rather than color hex numbers, this software provides "names." Forest Green was my first selection. It was lighter than the green I have there as I type this, called Dark Green. Let me go look up a color hex ... |
