Posted - February 01 2004 : 09:05:07 AM Do you all know that you can edit your own posts?
Look for the icon.
By default, the editing feature had no time limits. Because of one person's repeated abuse - changing content entirely so that replies no longer seemed relevant - I modified the code, some time ago, to enable me to put time limits on the function. Currently - and always subject to change, in one direction or the other - it is set at 48 hours. I figure that is a reasonable time for you to correct typos, broken links, misstatements, etc. Yes?
Also, I shut off the script that adds the "Edited by ..." statement within edited posts. That should no longer occur.
The editing feature is NOT there to change the meaning of your message, however. If you say something you really don't mean ... delete your post [you can do that, you know!]. As long as there are no replies, you can delete any message you post ... subject to the time limits, of course! |
