Posted - January 14 2009 : 5:40:35 PM Someone (Obi?) posted, not too long ago, about a favorite Disney TV series of the 60s, "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh." The star of that show, Patrick McGoohan, has always been one of my favorites.
Another handsome star of movies and TV that was also a favorite of mine was Ricardo Montalban. Ahhh.... that accent! ~ swoon ~
I am sad to report that both of these actors have died. They will be missed.

Keep it. It suits you and is a nice tribute. |

Posted - January 16 2009 : 10:29:30 AM Ricardo had an amazing voice, very sexy indeed. I loved wathcing him in movies and loved him on "Fantasy Island". When I was a teenager (back in the day) my two favorite shows were "Fantasy Island" and "Dallas". I noticed he was married to the same woman for 63 years until her death. That there says a lot about the man himself. Another legend gone but at least at 88 he had a long, fulfilling life. |

And as for Mr. Montalban, I will always remember his portrayal of Khan in STAR TREK II: WRATH OF KHAN (probably the best of the STAR TREK movies.)

Yes, he certainly was wonderful as Khan--in the movie and the original episode. Although the movie was long enough to actually see a more thorough development of the character.
I loved Star Trek II and I also think Star Trek IV was a great movie, as well. It provided a lot of laughs because of the interaction of the crew with 20th century America. Generations was a great movie, too--Kirk dying as a hero. Oh, here I go--on and on. Any other trekkies around here? |

I know what you mean, since Patrick McGoohan was one of my favorite TV actors as well. The 1960's Brit imports, Danger Man and The Prisoner are still among my all-time favorites...
"Who are you?" "I am Number 2." "Who is Number 1?" "That would be telling."
...forgive me for waxing esoteric.

Posted - January 14 2009 : 11:56:50 PM Man oh man. Patrick McGoohan passed away yesterday and Ricardo Montalban passed away today! Who will tomorrow?
I alway remenber certain speeches by these two (two of my favorites):
Ricardo Montalban: "...fine Corinthian leather..." and his soliloquy at the end of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.
Patrick McGoohan: (Braveheart) -- "Scot-land! The trouble with Scot-land is that it is full of Scots." |
