Okay, I have another story to share.
Ten years ago I was going through a really rough time with an ex. I kept having these dreams that there was someone else in his life. Then I began finding "hints" that she would leave when she came to call. Finally after three straight months of these dreams and a straight month of her "subtle hints" I began to ask. Of course I got nothing but lies in return.
Then one night my dreams changed. I began dreaming of having a baby with copper skin and black hair. The doctor would always say the same thing, "Sorry, man. But it's not your it's hers." Then he'd hand me my baby. I would be dumbfounded! How did my white butt pop out an indian baby?
Then the dreams changed again. I was chained to a wall in the basement of my ex's parent's house. I couldn't see him as he stood in the shadows. He kept asking me what I wanted and I told him, "To be free." So he came over to me and asked if I was sure. I would nod and beg and he'd finally let me go. I took off at neck breaking speeds up the stairs, with his voice chasing me, asking me to wait and not to leave. I would keep running, without looking back. At the top of the stairs was a door that led to the back yard. I ran through it and was blinded as this bright white light flooded all around me. I kept running, afraid that he would catch me. When my eyes finally adjusted I saw a desert. I slowed down and looked all over to discover I was alone. My clothes had changed too. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, now I had on a white sun dress that had a peasant look to it. I remember feeling overwhelming happiness and I took off running further into the desert.
Finally, I heard a giggle and in the distance I saw a wavy image of a little indian girl. I went to her and she kept laughing at me. I smiled at her and asked if I knew her. She said, "You're my mother."
That dream repeated itself three times the only difference was the ending.
On the second dream I stopped running because I heard an eagle cry and saw its shadow pass over me. I turned to look at it but was blinded by the sun. All I saw was it flapping its wings as it landed on top of a cactus and it appeared to have a snake in its talons.
On the third dream I saw the eagle land on the cactus with the snake and look right me. No blinding light in the background. Then I heard the little girl giggle again and turned to see her behind me. I took her hand and said, "Come on, sweetie. Let's go."
Now here's the creepy part. My ex did have an affair. Just a matter of a few weeks after these dreams I met my second husband, by mere chance. He's mayan indian, he's from Mexico City.
Shortly after meeting him I took a trip to Cancun, where the eagle dream came back to me. It lasted every night until I came back home. On the flight to DFW I was looking over a diez pesos that I had brought back as a keepsake and this is when it clicked.
The symbol of Mexico is on the coin. Take a good look at the tales side.

I wrote this dream in my dream journal and showed it to my husband after we were married. Didn't want him thinking I was a bigger nut than he expected me to be (tee-hee). Light, it wasn't just the history aspect of the story. Did you read what happened to Seamus at the very end? If not, go back and read the last few sentences. The story he told -- the history part, while important in itself -- was the lead-in to what happened to him. Put yourself there where he was, consider what had happened there, and imagine the emotion he was feeling, then think about what happened to him. (No spoilers! Everyone should go read it!)
I don't know about you, but as I said in the thread, I would have hurt myself getting to my car.
Oh, I read it. And enjoyed it but it had a lot of history to swallow before getting to the spooky part. But like I said, not complaining in the least. Perhaps I was vague before, so let me clarify. I had expected when I went into it was a short/sweet spooky ghost tale. It was spooky what happened to our beloved Seamus, just thought we'd get to that part quicker.
Highly recommend everyone to take the time to check out the whole thing!!! |

Posted - November 02 2007 : 8:41:45 PM I kind of have a ghost story. At least, I think that it was a ghost!!! I may have told this story in another thread, but here I go again. It was a few years back that my stepdaughter, her mom, and I all went to Savannah, Ga. for a weekend getaway. We went on one of those "ghost tours." It is very interesting walking around an old city like Savannah and hearing the "ghost" tales. Yes, I know that they are very much exaggerated, but we were enjoying ourselves. We were at the last house on the tour, and suddenly I smelled this real sweet smell. It reminded me of some type of sweet tobacco that guys smoke in pipes, but I looked around and nobody was smoking a pipe. As we were walking back to the car,I could still smell the sweet scent and we were away from the rest of the group. I asked Cindy and Phyllis if they smelled anything. Cindy said that she didn't, but Phyllis said that she smelled a sweet scent back at that last house and she still smelled it. I told her that is what I smelled. She said, it sort of smells like pipe tobacco and I told her that I thought the very same thing. Cindy joked that maybe a ghost was following us. Phyllis and I looked at each other like, yep, it's a ghost. Anyway, when we got into the car, the smell went away. After the tour, we decided to go to the beach and walk out on the pier. It was night time and we just wanted to enjoy the night air, even though on the pier it was kind of stinky because people were fishing and all I could smell was fish, so we just stayed a few minutes. On our way walking down the pier toward the car, all of a sudden, the smell was back. Phyllis and I both stopped walking and looked at each other. She asked me if I smelled it and I told her that I did. Cindy thought that her mom and I were just trying to pull her leg because she said that she still couldn't smell anything. The smell lasted again until we got into the car, and then it was gone. We even rolled down our windows to try and smell it, but it was gone. Obviously, out "ghost" didn't like cars, so whenever we got into the car, he would leave. We decided to go back to the house that we were renting on Tybee Island. I just knew that when we got there, we would smell that sweet scent again, but we never did. I was a little disappointed that our ghost was gone. Okay, I know that in my logical mind that there was a reason for the smell, but in my fantasy mind, it was a ghost following us. I wish that I had more ghost stories, but that is my one and only encounter with a ghost that didn't like cars. He just liked to walk along with us smoking his pipe.

Posted - November 02 2007 : 8:22:47 PM Since we're talking about all things ghostly, I thought I would post this. My youngest sis is an artsy person and has a lot of friends in the art world, including some in film. One of her friends was interning as a film tech and had a chance to work on a commercial. It was shot over a piece of ground that has been rumored to be haunted, since it is very near the site of an old battleground. My sister swears that she can see a "ghostly mist" in the film and hear a "whisper" at the end. It looks like fog and sounds like a bad mic to me, but I'm always a skeptic. What do you guys think?

Posted - November 02 2007 : 5:23:13 PM I still don't know how I feel about psychics. However, I do believe that some people just have a.... sense, a way of knowing something.
My mother is convinced that her mother had this extra "sense." One story in particular she has told me through the years occurred when my mother was a teen-ager. A cousin of hers had stepped on a rusty nail and got tetanus. That was apparently before innoculations for it, or else he had not had one. Of course, it was always fatal, as far as I know.
Anyway, he was very, very sick. My mother and grandmother went to a movie one evening. Right in the middle of the movie, my grandmother leaned over and whispered to my mother, "Bernie just died." My mother had the presence of mind to glance at her watch to note the time.
When the movie was over and they arrived home, my grandfather told them that someone had called to let them know that Bernie died. My mother asked him what time he died. When my grandfather told her, it was the exact same time my grandmother had leaned over to whisper the news.
Very eerie, and it sure does make one wonder..... |

It shouldn't matter whether you use digital or film, if you capture something in the photo it should still show up. I know my husband and I watch "Ghost Hunters" on SciFi every Wednesday night and they use digital cameras all the time to catch activity and it shows up, that is when they catch something good! (Good show by the way, worth takin' a gander at.)
I didn't know if an ectoplasm would show up on a chip encoded in 1's and 0's, or if it had to have an actual film with a negative and positive image. Maybe they have gone digital like everybody else. Or maybe it's something to do with the lens. Just don't know. I guess I could drag out my old Leica next time I am at Joumonville's Glenn. Well, actually it's not a real Leica, just an FED copy of a Leica, but it has a great 135mm lens, and I doubt the ectoplasm could tell the difference. Can you still buy film?
One time, some 12 years ago, I walked through the lobby of the Grove Park Inn in Asheville carrying honest-to-goodness "ghost busters" electronic gear. The guy in charge said "try to look inconspicuous!" What parents won't do for their kids!
Fitz, I do think you can still buy film. Might be hard to find! Cute story by the way!
Thanks Kay for the compliments! Great link, Light! |

Tell you what though, maybe if you channel your "psychic powers" and tell me something about my past that you could not possibly know, then who knows maybe you could "convert" me I doubt it though
No offense taken, Irish. None in the least. Like I said before though I can't "channel psychic powers", as #1 it's something that comes when it comes and #2 I don't call them psychic and they're most certainly not "powers". I'm not super-woman for crying out loud. They're abilities. Like a talent. Like how some people can pick up foreign languages like it's nothing while other can't make heads or tails out of one conjugation. How others have an inate sense of direction in the business/technical industries and have brought about all these wonderful high power technical products we couldn't imagine our lives without. Although, just because it's there doesn't justify charging people $$$ for it. That's just wrong. Anyway, you get my point.
Seeing that we're friends and keep in touch frequently if I ever have a dream about you I will be sure to let you know.
I have dreamed of things in the past that pointed to changes that were coming for people I knew. One was of a promotion for my brother, he laughed at me and said, "Yeah...right!" One month later he got a promotion to the position I saw in my dream. He was beside himself.
And another dream I had about a person I worked for. I dreamed that she and her hubby were expecting and that she wanted to keep it secret because she had miscarried so many time before. When she heard it she was floored. She and her husband had been trying for years to have a baby but always lost the pregnancies. She had just got word the day before that they were expecting, and she had talked with her hubby about keeping it quite until they knew for sure that it would last. Then I told her that the odd detail in my dream. That she was having twins. It was odd cause she was in her 40's, super tall and like a size 1? Maybe? The lady was sooooo skinny and petite. Well, she LOL at the thought and said, "Oh sure!" That pregnacy held and she later got to hold twin boys. That one really weirded me out!!!!!
I've kept in touch with them and they're doing good. But nothing else ever came into my dreams for them again.
So yeah, I've seen things coming for people but not by choice. If I happen to see anything for you, Irish I will let you know. But like the rest of me, it comes when it comes and not a minute sooner. I can want to know so badly but then it will never happen. It's always showing up unexpected and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Posted - November 01 2007 : 11:06:42 PM There are so many phony psychics (Sylvia Browne) that if somebody actually does have some sort of psychic power, many people won't believe them. I like to keep an open mind about all things. I don't know any psychics and I sure wouldn't pay anyone any money to tell me things that I already know about myself, but that doesn't mean that I don't think that there are people out there with some sort of psychic power.
Light, I enjoyed reading your post. Kind of gave me goosebumps though.
As for watching fantasy programs about witches and such, well, I always loved watching Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie. Do I believe in witches and genies??? Nope, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying a show about them. I guess that my mind isn't as open as what I thought or else I would believe in them too.
