Posted - July 10 2007 : 11:22:26 AM Girls! Christina! Diana! Theresa! GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL!! Hey, I bet no one thought that this thread would result in a reunion! Hey! A mini Gathering on 'paper'!!
Hey, Christina, good to see you here too! How're you doing? And Theresa... thank you for your 'stay safe' wishes! It was sweet of you to keep your Scottish friend in mind during the recent terrorist scare. I was in hospital last week and I couldn't help thinking, "how must the patients of those terrorist doctors feel"? I know that according to the hospitals they worked in, their work was exemplary and absolutely of the highest care level, but I'm sure you couldn't help feeling a real shiver at the thought that these doctors were treating you and all the while they hated you and were plotting how to kill you or yours or your fellow Scots! Oooohhh...just thinking about it gives me the willies! ... *shiver!*...
But Scotland goes on about her daily business, totally refusing to bow under the threat of bombs etc. We won't be intimidated or made to feel like victims. We're bouyed by how quickly the Police, Scotland Yard, etc (as well as Special Forces from America & Australia) have homed in on the perpetrators and their worldwide support network and have made several arrests. Already the passenger of the vehicle that slammed into the airport doors has appeared in court. The driver has 90% burns, has been transferred from Paisley Hospital to the Glasgow Royal and it is still undetermined whether he will survive or not. Do I wish him to die? No - that would make him a martyr. Better he lives - for the rest of his natural in prison. Anyway, Britain is still on 'Critical' alert. But we're doing fine. We appreciate all the kind thoughts and best wishes from friends, though!
To something much more fun, (read: men in kilts! ) I sooooo wish I could go with you to the Grandfather Mountain Games, Diana!! I DO SO LOVE 'Albannach'!! In fact, everyone here found the 'Albannach' CD in their Christmas Stockings last year! Heheheee... Now no matter WHO I hitch a ride with anywhere, there is no excuse for them not to have 'Birlin' on their car stereo's!! (I'm not TOTALLY daft! )
Are they playing at the Fringe next year?? Wellll...it's a long time since I was in Edinburgh during the Fringe! Next year seems a PERFECT time to go back! 'Albannach' are usually in Glasgow (round about now) at the River Festival, just down the road from Heather's house! She's a big fan of theirs too and usually sees Jamesie strutting around during the festival. Joe (Clann an Drumma) walks his dog in the park where Heather walks her dog and she often has a word with him...
Yep... a few days of R & R at Grandfather Mountain would be SUPER! Could sure do with a few days of Celtic mayhem! I'd be happy with even a few days at the Fringe... we have to work on that, GG!!!
Great talking to you all!

Posted - July 11 2007 : 08:12:18 AM Woohoo! It's so good to hear from you, Kate. Glad to hear you are safe and sound. Speaking of "doctors in the community"...I live in a small town here in Alabama, population about 13,000, and there are several doctors in our hospital and clinics that are Muslim/Middle Eastern. As much as you try not to assume the worst, you simply sometimes cannot help but wonder about it. Why would so many come to small town America to practice? I suppose one has to hope and pray they are of good character and mean us no harm.
Also, our son was diagnosed with MS about a year ago and his doctor in Birmingham is Pakistani...and I assume a Muslim, though I'm not sure. He is world known for his accomplisments in treating this disease and we are very thankful that Ben, our son, is under his care. He is currently participating in a three-year clinical trial and so far so good.
I would love to get back to Mohicanland and see all my buds. Perhaps soom. |
