Posted - June 21 2007 : 05:56:22 AM Hi Gang, I will be offline for the next few days. Well, at least until Sunday or Monday. I am asking for those of y'all that believe that prayers really do help to pray for my father and sister. Daddy has been on dialysis for the past few years and he is always so tired and sick, but he will be having a kidney transplant tomorrow. My angel of a sister, Cathy , is donating a kidney to him. This is going to make such a difference in his life!!! I am a little worried because of his age. He is 76, but he is in relatively good health. So, if y'all would keep Jerry McDonald and Cathy Davis in your prayers, then I would really appreciate it. When I get back online, I want to have some very good news to tell!!! Thanks and I love y'all!!!
Love, Kay |

Posted - June 29 2007 : 5:35:41 PM Thanks again everybody for the thoughts and prayers!!! We got daddy and Cathy home this week and they are doing wonderful!!! Daddy still can't believe that he can drink all the water that he wants. When he was on dialysis, he was limited to how much he could drink. Here's a picture of Cathy and daddy before they went down to surgery. It is kind of blurry because my sister, Karen, took it with her cell phone and it didn't turn out great, but she wanted a "before" picture of them.
Love, Kay

Posted - June 24 2007 : 9:41:28 PM Kay, Nancy & I are so glad to hear they are both OK. Two years ago we lost a very dear friend in his 30's due to his heart just giving out after several years of dialysis. Several guys jumped him as a teenager, beat him so badly he lost one kidney and his spleen. Then his other kidney shutdown. Before a donor could be found, Steve's heart just gave out one day he was on the dialysis machine. Our thoughts are with you m'lady. Mike & Nancy Rumping |

Posted - June 24 2007 : 9:16:01 PM I want to thank everyone for their prayers and positive thoughts because daddy has a functioning kidney now!!! I cry every time that I say that because I am just so happy for him. He is doing very well and if it was up to him, he would be going home tomorrow, but they want to keep him a few more days. He is on solid foods and walks up and down the halls, mainly to see my sister who is in a room down the hall from him. Cathy isn’t doing quite as well as daddy is, but when I saw her today, she seemed to be doing a little better. The doctor still has her on a liquid diet, but she is so ready to have some "real" food. She hasn’t had any solid food since last Thursday, but if her nausea subsides, they may give her a little solid food tomorrow. She has had very bad headaches too, but she said that they were easing up today. She even wanted to try and walk down the hall to surprise daddy, because she hasn’t been able to get out of bed. He was smiling from ear to ear when he saw her walk into his room. She just stayed for a little while because she was pretty tired, so my younger sister and I helped her back to her room. I think that both daddy and Cathy will be out of the hospital by Wednesday. Anyway, I just wanted to thank y’all once again for all of the thoughts and prayers. It meant a lot to me and my family!!!
Love, Kay

Very true, Obi. And I think that the number of replies to Kaylynn's post proves that love can exist even in a network of online friends, many of whom have probably never met each other. Gives you a good feeling, doesn't it?
I'll also keep your family in mind, Kaylynn. Hope everything goes well. |

Prayers and Blessings from the Batliner family... I'm sure all will go well...I had to have my kindney removed in 1990 so if you have concerns about your sister...I am sure she will be fine I've had no problems with just one.
