Posted - April 30 2007 : 12:07:22 AM I don't know how the weather is east of the PRK, but here in the Central Valley of California, the temperature yesterday was 101 and today it cooled off to 97! Man o man, this is just way too early for this nonsense! |

Posted - May 23 2007 : 9:17:51 PM I agree that men contribute to the unusual weather patterns. I don't think we cause them, rather I believe we intensify them.
The earth does go through natural warming and cooling trends, since it is still a developing planet. It appears the earth does this due to polarization. This has a lot to do with the polar pull of all the planets and their orbits. (I love astronomy.) Warming trends tend to last for many decades before a cooling trend will kick in and vice-versa.
Global warming? Yeah, it exists - but I believe it to be natural.

I don't know a whole lot about "Global Warming" MG, but I have to agree with Caitlin that we do contribute to it somehow. Just think of all of the people in the world and the body heat from each person has to kind of make the world a little warmer. Just kidding about the body heat but I honestly think that a big part of "Global Warming" is due to cutting down trees and building more and more houses and stores. There is alot of development around here in Aiken, and I cringe every time that I see trees being cut down to make way for a fancy condo development, strip mall, or heaven forbid another Wal-Mart!!! We need trees for carbon dioxide, but if we keep going the way that we are, then one day we won't have any trees left. Then what will we do? I know that it might be centuries away, or it may never happen, but if we keep treating Mother Nature the way that we do, she might just give us a spanking!!! Anyway, that is just my opinion.

Posted - May 16 2007 : 9:38:29 PM Well, I guess I should have said that the weather just seems to be more erratic. We had some cooler than "normal" days here too. I can't help to think we aren't contributing to it somehow though... |

Posted - May 16 2007 : 5:46:50 PM Caitlin, I'm going to have to agree with MG (ewwwww!). Since those 2 really hot days at the end of April, it has been much cooler than normal here in the Central Valley. Today, in fact, the temp won't get above 88! I'm keeping a close eye out for them thar glaciers! |

Posted - May 16 2007 : 3:17:08 PM Not that simple caitlin, - if it's "hot where I am" early in the year", that's all the proof I need. It's been way below average here, for all of April, and May's been cooler than normal also. In fact the low 40's tonight, and the rest of the month looks below average too. That doesn't mean a new Ice Age either. Where I live now, ten thousand years ago was covered by about 100 ft. of ice, - not a sign of it today. Now THAT's global warming, - and no nasty factories or rush hour traffic to blame. There's no question that the climate is changing, - that's something that's been going on since the beginning of time, - and will contuine to happen going forward. People tend to be so self-centered they see themselves as the "center of everything" - when in fact we're only a piece of sand on a very large beach. Our contribition to "things", good or bad, is barely measurable, - and frankly we don't have the background/history/intelligence to truly determine/know exactly were we fit in, - in the over-all picture. Not to say we don't have an abundance of folks with large mouths and matching ego's - but they have no more insight than anyone else. Have a good, - if a tad warm day ... ;) |

Posted - May 16 2007 : 1:36:39 PM No global warming? Yeah, right... It's already 10 degrees warmer than "normal" and we're already kicking the summer in with triple digits here in Arizona. Looks like it's going to be a long one... |

Posted - May 14 2007 : 09:01:25 AM To get into the 80's today and I'm lovin' it. Summer has come early here although rain is predicted for tomorrow but still up in the 70's. |

Posted - May 14 2007 : 08:52:46 AM Hmmm, well y'all both beat me because it is about 60 this morning, but when I went outside, it felt so good. It was just a little cool with a nice breeze blowing. This is my kind of weather. Unfortunately, it will be getting hotter today, so I'm going to get out there and enjoy it while I can!!!

Posted - May 10 2007 : 08:53:38 AM Well, quite thankfully, there were no nasty Frenchmen present at this battle. There were, however, a few gusts of wind on Saturday evening. I didn't have any trouble with my hoops, but a small modern tent/canopy that wasn't staked down really went flying. Literally.
One of the best things we do at that event, in my opinion, is our Friday Education Day. We had about 850 school kids there this year. They visited various "stations" to learn different things about that period of our history. Invariably, we manage to pique the interest of several little boys who decide that activity just looks like a whole lot of fun! Hopefully, they will carry that interest until they are old enough to participate. |

Posted - May 09 2007 : 12:37:41 PM Very nice looking area & event indeed. I see in '06 there were quite a few "visitors", probably some future recruits among them I'll bet. ... Any nasty Frenchmen or wayward gusts ofwind? ;) |

Posted - May 07 2007 : 3:45:52 PM Sounds like you had a great time WW, - if it's not a secret, what was the event? |

Posted - May 07 2007 : 11:15:37 AM Well, we had absolutely picture-perfect weather for our event! Nighttime temps were in the low 40s and upper 30s. A nice campfire, 4 wool blankets, good ways to keep warm. Daytime temps were in the mid to high 60s, which is really perfect when one is wearing wool re-enacting clothing. The sun shone brightly (yours truly got a bit pink!) |

Posted - May 05 2007 : 11:48:15 PM Well here in Michigan it has been rocky.
We got a few days that just about hit 90 (one of them did) and so everyone drags out the shorts and tanktops and such and hides the winter stuff, then we hit 20 and see snow flakes. Then it comes back to 60 and we all get spring stuff around and we hit back at 30. Then we had a white easter (not white Christmas). Then we get warm and then right back to the 30's. The weather just doesn't like how small my dresser is.
Oh and flu, and sinus's, and allergies are hitting a rather large high. I have been sick for over a week from the stupid weather. |

Posted - May 03 2007 : 09:11:18 AM Beautiful weather here in Wisconsin for the past week. Temps in the upper 60's and even into low 70's on occasion. I love it and can't complain one bit as it is just perfect. Looks good for the next week or so too. Even a nice breeze which helps. Perfect weather indeed. |

Posted - May 02 2007 : 12:31:37 PM Yes, I believe it is to be in the upper 30s or lower 40s tonight. I will be sleeping under many wool blankets in a rustic, unheated cabin. Ah!!!! Love that wool! |
