Posted - February 26 2007 : 8:04:21 PM WW, Okay, you know how you and some of the others on the board love reenacting and some love Native American history, well, my baby loves anything about the Japanese culture. He even saved up money to go to Japan last year. He was in heaven!!! He loved Kyoto with all of the castles and shrines. Anyway, he loves writing haiku. That is Japanese poetry. It is always seventeen syllables. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables. He would write different haiku and then it dawned on him that there are plenty of books out there that have haiku in them, but none of them are in a novel form, so he tells a story as he writes the haiku. The haiku that starts his book is below: ~Venture~ The sun lights a trail This is the path I must choose My journey begins It is essentially about a wanderer who sets off and encounters danger and romance along the way. I think that he did a fantastic job, but then I'm his mom and kind of biased. Well, I won't bore you with all of the "proud mom" stuff, but I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo PROUD of my baby!!!!

Posted - February 27 2007 : 4:27:45 PM WW, He did all of the photography except for the front cover. My grandson took the picture of him on the cover. Some of the photos were taken in Japan, but he put other photos in the book that were taken in Washington D.C., Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In fact, there is one that looks suspiciously like some mountains that we all know and love. I told Michael that everyone would know that that particular picture was taken in North Carolina, but he showed me a picture of some mountains in Japan and you would have thought that you were looking at a picture of the Smokey Mountains. He takes some rally good pictures, but he really only likes taking pictures of nature. He doesn't like to take photos of people. I figure that if his book doesn't work out, maybe he can be a photographer. I will tell Michael what you said. it will make his day!!!

Posted - February 27 2007 : 12:46:24 PM Oh Wow! I am so impressed, Kay. I went to his website and checked it all out. The book looks just beautiful. It sounds like he has a definite "way with words." Did he do the photography, as well? |
