Just wondering what everyone's favorite tv shows are if you have much time to watch the telly that is

Well mine are The Sopranos, Dexter, Amazing Race, Rome, Survivor (yes I still watch and haven't gotten sick of it yet). I still watch The Apprentice and I am eagerly awaiting the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

My favorite soap of all time was "Dallas". Anyone else have a favorite soap of all time

Well, - maybe back in '66, tough for me to imagine that, but ok. Having said that, - "love must be blind" alright, these last few years, they're missing quite a few pieces. ... ;)

But, of course!! She may be "made-for-TV," but she strongly believes in accountability & truth. Love her! She's my "other" woman!!

As for the Cowboys, MG ... it's another of my sordid love affairs ... since '66.

In days gone by, my favs - "Leave it to Beaver," "All in the Family," and "Seinfeld".

Well, things have changed in the past couple of years ...

I am now completely immersed in "24". I do believe that might very well be the best television program ever conceived. I started with the current Season 7. I got so involved that I ordered Season 1 on DVD and am watching that, sort of concurrently. The show keeps me riveted for the entire episode. Just some gutsy and intelligent stuff ...

Yes, 24 ranks as my favorite ever show. Spellbinding! But, now off the air!

Been watching a lot of television of late - probably way too much - here are my current favorites, in no particular order:

-- Dexter
-- Men of a Certain Age
-- Damages
-- NCIS
-- The Good Wife
-- Jay Leno's "Headlines" segment
-- The Event
-- Judge Judy
-- Dallas Cowboys Football
-- SEC College Football

OH, thanks for the info about the third season of Tudors!! I get my Showtime hooked up at the end of this week, I can't wait!! I'm so excited and looking forward to this season!!
Irishgirl Posted - March 23 2009 : 09:21:41 AM
I checked Showtime On Demand last night and they had the first episode of Season 3 of "The Tudors" on there. It was fantastic and nice to see it before the Season premieres on April 5.

I enjoyed it so much. Big surprise though that they had a differend actress playing Jane Seymour but I think I like this one better than the original one Jane is kind hearted and very likeable.

Looks like this season will be the most "brutal" yet judging from the previews and Henry does seem a lot more "menacing" and "blood-thirsty". JRM really does a fantastic job portraying Henry but they do need to age him more as he still looks around 30 when Henry is supposed to be in his forties at least but that is not too important to me.

So if you have Sho On Demand be sure to check it out

YES! I'm up at all hours of the night now and I watch TV to try to stay awake while I'm feeding the baby. I only get three channels---CBS, ABC, NBC---which all air news from about 4am onward. Every broadcast is the same, and each channel usually features the same stories in the same order.

The names really are pretty much the only things that are different, considering that there seems to be a single wardrobe consultant and hairstylist for all existing TV news personalities. It's "blonde anchorwoman with professional bob" and "anchorman with dark suit and combover" on every channel!

No Way! What a small world-that's weird. I'm sorry that he is/was such a jerk but my favorite characters in the show are Dominic and the helicopter and the theme music of course!

There are so many things that I love to watch that it's ridiculous. The tv shows that I watch right now though are Heroes,Supernatural, and then all the older ones I watch are Wanted:Dead or Alive,Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, Emergency, Magnum PI, Airwolf, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Hogan's Heroes (I know nothing, I see nothing, I didn't even get up this morning!), and old British comedies like Are you Being Served?, Last of the Summer Wine, As Time Goes By, Red Dwarf, and My Hero. I miss alot of the shows that I remember watching from the late 80s-early/mid 90s.

Some of them I had not heard of either. Most disappointing cast so far for a Season of Dancing.

My favorite is that new guy that nobody heard of from the "Sex and the City" movie. Boy could he strut his stuff in a sexy way. I also like Shaun Johnson. She did a great job. Those two are probably the favorites. Then I have to root for Belinda Carlisle as I have always liked Jonathan Roberts. Such a sweetheart he is and handsome to boot.

Ty Murray was terrible Obi so I think he could be the first to go. Better hope he has lots of fans.

My wife and I are both rooting for Ty Murray...

Most of those dancers I've never even heard of.

Oh don't forget new Season of "The Tudors" begins next month. Can hardly wait.

Also (this is for you Obi) new Season of "Dancing with the Stars" begins tonight.

Okay just wanted to recommend a brilliant series on HBO called "Carnivale". It was originally aired earlier this decade probably around 2003 and I had watched it then but unfortunately it got cancelled after only two seasons. Apparently it was very expensive to make and did not bring in the viewing ratings HBO had been expecting. Typical of HBO to cancel a brilliant show like this just like they did with Rome but anyway that is another story. Anyways, I recently finished watching both Seasons and highly recommend it. It is definitely a different kind of show. Set in 1934, the dustbowl and the fight between good and evil. Centers around a traveling carnival of course with many unique characters and an excellent cast featuring Clancy Brown as Brother Justin.

So anyone here seen it in the past and if so what did you think? Do yourselves a favor and give it a viewing.

Hey, blackfootblood.

I forgot how to do quotes, but I think Samurai Jack was one of the best action cartoons ever. It's a shame they didn't really finish the series. There was supposed to be a movie (theatrical-type) at one point, but I think the idea was shelved when Mako passed away :( . He was irreplaceable.

P.S.--For any Equalizer fans, the series' first season is now out on DVD! I'm hoping second season will come out soon.

Edward Woodward was also a guest-star on Crusade--the ep is called "The Long Road". He played a Technomage by name of Aldwyn. Very interesting, watching him act alongside his son Peter!

It's funny you mentioned "Samurai Jack", Pen. That is one of my favorites to watch on Cartoon Network. I have to stay up to see it though! Not many people know of this awesome cartoon but it's worth taking a gander at.
Irishgirl Posted - June 12 2008 : 2:14:29 PM
I recall watching "The Equalizer" back in the 80's but I had no idea that was him in "Hot Fuzz" and I have watched that movie quite a lot. He looks so different but being much older I guess he would. Thanks for pointing that out Obes.

Robin of Sherwood
The Equalizer
Torchwood
Doctor Who
Samurai Jack
Crusade (Babylon 5 spinoff) Anybody know why it was cancelled?????
Firefly
Due South
Schoolhouse Rock!
Dangermouse

...and *tons* of others (some that aren't out on DVD yet :)!

Any fans of the above around here?

Pen

The Equalizer! How could I have forgotten Edward Woodward? If anyone has seen the movie Hot Fuzz, EW plays that bald bearded geek who's head of the neighborhood watch!

Crusade Here's a quote from IMDB:

quote:
I've read a lot of the comments, and I see an overwhelming trend here: people don't know what they're talking about. Crusade is NOT a bad show. It is an excellent show, and a worthy addition to the B5 universe. It was originally scheduled to air after the movie "A Call To Arms", and the pilot episode was to be "Racing The Night". They had 5 episodes ready and were about to film more when TNT paused production. They wanted serious changes to the show: new uniforms, more violence, more sex. They forced JMS to write a new pilot, "War Zone" with ridiculous requirements, such as a fistfight in the opening.

He later refused to add more sex and a 'sexual explorer', so TNT canceled the show after 13 episodes were filmed. The show was canceled before it even aired. It was not canceled because it was bad, but because TNT made it bad. They did eventually air it, but totally out of order. If you ignore "War Zone" and watch the other 12, it's a great show. The show clearly has an arc, and it was about to begin when the show was canceled. Hopefully the SCI-FI channel will pick it up in the future and continue this great series.

Now you know...
