Posted - November 05 2006 : 9:31:26 PM We all know we've made some incredible friendships on the board but I was wondering the other day if there were any "couples" that had accidentally found another here. Not like a dating service but more like a relationship that spontaneously happened.
Anyone?
Oh yeah, if you met really good friends this would be the place to "crow" about them as we say here in Western KY. |

Posted - November 12 2006 : 2:47:12 PM I have bantered a bit with several folks here, sent Paazau a few things, and generally had a great time! I don't get to post or lurk as often as I'd like, the laptops in our cruisers wont let me get on this site, or I'd be here alot more! LOL
I think all of you guys are tops!! I have never met a better group of people than in the re-enacting/history circles.
Respectfully,

Thank you for your kind words, Paazau. Much appreciated! I've missed your interesting conversation lately. Hope you can return more often.

Posted - November 09 2006 : 7:42:59 PM Thanks for remembering me Irishgirl and MeggieD. I think of you all often, and long for the days when I had spare time to peruse the board at my leisure and chat with you both about Uncas. Kaylynn44, Wilderness Woman, Wes1761 and Sgt Munro are others that I've enjoyed chatting with about various things. Yes, I agree Irish, Mountain Man is conspicuous by his absence; he was a witty sparring partner. I'm glad The Mohican Board has brought us all together. Here's to old friends and new - and thanks to Rich for providing us the medium to become acquainted.

Well, ladies, thank you for including me in your friends list. Appreciated.
To my knowledge, there have been no on-line dating-type relationships that have resulted directly from interaction on the Mohican Board. I could be wrong, though. My finger is not always on the pulse! Now, I have seen one or two get married and have their other half appear with them at a Gathering ... Caitlin & Jeff come to mind, of course.
A lot of colorful characters have come & gone. Luckily, there's always someone new to come along. Good folks here now, but I gotta say our heyday - to date - had to be 1997-2000. What a time! Don't believe me? Read those old archived posts!!
Friends ... friends ... friends ... in 10 years, this place has been chock full of them. A long litany of good pals & bonds. Then, too, a lot of them bit the dust for one reason or another. Some very suprisingly so. My experience has been that Internet friendships can tend to be very fragile. My whole experience has been extremely bittersweet. I have tended to stay somewhat aloof as a result.
Perhaps it is largely because of my role as Sachem. It is difficult to maintain solid connections with so many. Only so much of me to go around.
What's a mother to do?

I have no idea where that quote is from!
Well, I have to agree with Rich on the fragility of Internet friendships. The early heyday was memorable! Good folks have passed through these hallowed halls and continue to do so!
Mohicanland brought me good luck and many memories. Shortly after G1 I met my husband and introduded him to everyone at G2. We weren't going to go to G3 because I was pregnant, but primarily because of our new friendships here in Mohicanland (and the adventcha!) we decided last minute that we simply wanted to see everyone. So, we jumped in the car and went. Got to meet 3-day old baby Michael that time, if I remember correctly. Wish we could be so spontaneous these days, but now we're out West and packing 3 kids!
I consider Mohicanland to be a very friendly place and I guess I tend to hold Rich, Donna, Isle, Kate, the Sweetser sisters, Diane and Gadget Girl dearest to me heart because I was able to share the Gatherings with them and I've known them the longest.

Posted - November 08 2006 : 11:16:53 PM Thanks to all of you who miss me....it's been hard lately to catch up, between work and my personal life, I don't seem to have time lately.
I guess I'd have to say my closest bud is Irishgirl, as we have spent many lunch hours in the chat room. We started by just chatting about Uncas, but have become good friends....seems our foolish warrior Uncas is a common bond for a lot of us. Paazau, Light, Lady, I appreciate your posts when I do have time to just lurk and read.
Mountain Man, oh Mountain Man where are you???? You used to have the best snide comments to put us Uncas fanatics in our places. You made some great wallpapers, too.
Obi, I don't think we've been formally introduced, but I find your Geezerness enjoyable, also.
Anyway thanks for the props, love ya'll too!!!

Posted - November 07 2006 : 2:10:12 PM Okay I'll go next.
When I joined the board MeggieD was the one who welcomed me and we realized we had a lot in common especially our love of a certain Indian. We have been buddies ever since and still PM and use the chatroom quite often. Sometimes feel like we are the only two who ever use it. Here's to you Meg. I just need to get you posting again as we all miss your wonderful posts.
I made the acquaintance of Paazau a friend from "down under". Unfortunately, she has been too busy with work and other things in her life to get on much lately but she is missed and I hope she can find time to post again. We have PM'd and kept in touch and I remember the good 'ole days when she and I and MeggieD would rant and rave about Uncas and Mountain Man would make fun of our obsession. Alas he has gone to God only knows where. I hope he will return some day soon.
Then there is my good 'ole buddy Light of the Moon. What can I say about her but she makes me laugh with all her posts. Have gotten her into the chatroom but not enough. We keep in touch with PM's and private email. Shares my deep love for NA men.
Lady I have known for a while and enjoyed her posts. Hailing from South Africa it is hard to be on at the same time to get in the chatroom but there is always PM's and we have sent a few. Another one who makes me laugh with her post.
Leylana1492 who alas is not around much anymore either but hopefully will be again.
Then there is Obediah, a new friend who likes to tease us about Uncas and Geezers. He makes us laugh and we love him for that. Thank you Obi.
I will mention Rich as, like Light stated, if not for him we would not all have met or had a place to talk Uncas or discuss any other LOTM topics. Rich you are to be praised for your great work here. You truly are our Sachem and nice to know we have such a "great one" to guide us on this board and help us out in our time of need with "technical problems" Cheers Rich.
Other folks I have had the pleasure to chat with if even briefly so please do not feel left out if I omitted to mention you. I look forward to many more great chats in the future. |

Posted - November 07 2006 : 11:38:43 AM Why sure it does!!!
I'll crow a little about my good friends here in Mohican Land.
Irish was the first person who actually PM'd me and asked me to join in the fun more often. I was a solo act and really felt ignored there at first but Irish befriended me and I've been having a blast ever since. Thank you Irish!
TBug was a newbie but is very nice and got along with the little "tribe" we've developed! Welcome home, TBug!
Obi Juan is a real geezer. He came at us w/slams on Uncas which we all know is just jealousy in disguise. But he's clever, quick witted, and we love him. All hail the GEEZER!
MeggieD we miss her since she left the board. She was a lot of fun and is soarly missed! COME BACK!!!!
Lady is a new one for me. She's a real fun person to post with. She's as loony over Uncas as the rest of us (except the jealous geezer!) We miss her when she's gone and when she's back I always check her posts.
Rich is one cool guy. He's always been there for the entire site and is our beloved "Chieftan" in Mohican Land. What would we do without him? We'd have no site and just think of all the friendships we'd miss out on. Here's to ya' Rich
Wes1676 (or whatever year is tacked onto your name) is a new friend too. Quite a historian and I have a strong appreciation for his knowledge. We love ya'!
These are the friends I post most frequently with. And I still have countless other friends here in the site that I absolutely love with each of their own stories.
So...it's the month for Thanksgiving...anyone else want a go round?
