Posted - July 21 2006 : 5:57:03 PM It seems like I remember somebody saying that they had visited Colonial Williamsburg a while back. Rich maybe??? Anyway, in August or September, we will be going to Virginia Beach to see my grandson. He is in the Navy and we want to see him before he ships out. Well, some of the family wants to go up to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens Europe. Has anybody here ever been to either one of these places? Just wondering if BG is worth the ticket price. Busch Gardens is around $52.00 per person and I am hoping that the shows and the gardens are really worth it for us to pay that much for a ticket. I don't care about the rides because I won't be riding them, but I would like to see the shows. It just seems like between the prices of the hotels, attractions, and food, we will have to bring our life savings with us.

Posted - August 05 2006 : 1:25:07 PM I was just there on July 26th and it was a hot sweltering day. It was okay. I enjoyed it alright but thought it would have been better. Not enough people "dressed up" in my opinion. My husband too was disappointed. We just got the Capital Pass which is around $34 for the day. Pretty expensive with 4 kids in tow although one is a toddler so at least she was free. I wish we had gone to Jamestown instead.
My teenagers wanted to go to BG but that would have been very expensive so gave it a miss. |

Posted - July 23 2006 : 11:35:31 PM I am quite excited, as I will be going to Colonial Williamsburg the first weekend in December for the Grand Illumination. It will be my first time there. Seamus and the "former dark-haired lass" are going, as are a number of other folks from the Augusta Regiment. It should be a "Grand" time, indeed! |

Posted - July 22 2006 : 9:30:02 PM Rich, Thanks for the thread. I thought that I had remembered you posting something about Colonial Williamsburg. I am going to try and talk everybody into going there. Right now their hearts are set on Busch Gardens Europe. We will see.......
Vincent, I bet that it was beautiful in the winter time!!! If I don't get to visit it this September, then maybe I can talk Bill into going back in December. I will let you know which one we decided to go to. Maybe both?????

Kay,
Of the two places you mentioned I have been to Colonial Williamsburg. We had such a good time that we bought the Colonial Pass that covered two visits. Something very mystical about Colonial Williamburg in the snow covered winter (November and December) that made it seem like we were traveling back in time...
We are seriously thinking of bringing our nephews sometime this summer.
Keep us posted on where you decide to eventually go.
Enjoy! Vincent

Posted - July 22 2006 : 11:30:52 AM Can't help you with Busch Gardens, Kay, but Williamsburg ... See: Visit to Colonial Williamsburg.
Be prepared to spend some dough, but if you allow time -and total immersement - you won't be sorry! |
