Posted - January 04 2006 : 12:49:25 PM Well, it may not exactly be Cora's dream home, but it sure could be mine!
Are there any other HGTV fans out there? If so, then you may have seen the recent unveiling of the HGTV Dream Home 2006. And if you have seen that, then you know where this year's home is located.
When I first saw the promos for the show, I looked at that setting and I thought: that is either the Adirondacks of New York or the mountains of North Carolina.
Any guesses which one it is?
Go and Check It Out! It is absolutely gorgeous! Oh! And... don't bother to enter the contest. 'Cause I'm going to win it! |

Posted - January 05 2006 : 12:57:47 PM Keep thinking the White Mountains WW, - much cooler most of the year, along with some beautiful country. No sales tax, no state income tax, no bottle law and no seat belt law for anyone under 18!! Now, - after I win that house, it's goin' be free skiing/snowshoeing for everyone. Looong winters, and short summers after all, ... ;) |

Posted - January 05 2006 : 12:38:04 PM Well. Here's my plan.
When I win the house (Love ya too, GG, but I want that house!), I am going to offer low-cost vacation rental options to Mohicanlanders. That will help me with the costs of upkeep, utilities and taxes. Of course, I will block out certain times for myself. What a place to retreat to when I'm not out helping the guys fight the Frenchies.
Just think of it, Mohicanlanders! What a Gathering we could have there!
Woo-Hoo!
We might even invite Ol' 15-Seconds-Seamus. |

Posted - January 05 2006 : 07:45:32 AM Even after all these years, I cannot relate LOTM to NC, pretty as it is there....kinda like the scenes in The Deer Hunter of the Rockies and a Red Stag when they were supposed to be hunting Whitetails in Pennsylvania. Ahhhhhhh.........Hollywood!!
Nothing compares to Leatherstocking Country and the Adirondacks.....where Cooper meant it all to be.
Sorry, girls, you can have the tax drain house....Mo Guide and I will stay here..... |

Posted - January 04 2006 : 11:33:49 PM Ya know - my first thought was...That looks like Lake Lure out the window. Is it Chimney Rock??? or the Lake Lure area? Sorry WW, I love ya - but you got some competition now!~!!!! |

Posted - January 04 2006 : 10:21:34 PM But youse-guys are all missing the point!
Location, location, location! Did you see where it is? (Hint: LOTM was filmed there.) Look at that view from the windows and yard! Absolutely gorgeous!
Nope. Sorry. The only other location that would be as pretty is on Lake George. |

Posted - January 04 2006 : 7:25:26 PM Not too shabby, but I still prefer my little cabin in the woods. I can sweep it in 5 minutes, wash the table in 30 seconds, sweep the porch in a minute and make my bed in 15 seconds. Chris, you are right....lots of square footage to clean. AND....no freeloading relatives and in-laws showing up on major holidays! HUZZAH!!!! |

Posted - January 04 2006 : 7:06:50 PM It would go perfectly on our lot in Trapper Creek and looks a whole lot easier than cutting the trees, milling the logs, then building. However, once it was done I'd have to clean it. That's a lot of square footage to clean! |
