Posted - September 21 2005 : 10:43:20 AM For those of you who have been around a while and remember our French Trader, Clabert: I just got off the phone with him and he and his family are packing what they can and evacuating to Austin. Clabert lives in Dayton, which is not far from Houston and Galveston. They are packing their vehicles and making painstaking decisions about what to take and what to leave behind, knowing that there might be nothing left when they come back. He asked that I let everyone know that they were evacuating and will not be able to respond to emails. Please keep Clabert, Cyndie, and Cassidy in your thoughts in prayers over the next few days as it looks like Hurricane Rita is headed straight for their area. Stephanie |

Breaking news.... update from Clabert! Just spoke with Clabert and the news is pretty good. They weathered the storm just fine, and were able to go see about their house today. A large tree tried to fall on top of it, but was caught by another tree and so didn't fall completely down. It did, however, puncture the roof, a hole about the size of a fist. So the repairs should be pretty easy once the tree is removed (the tricky part). There are lots and lots of trees down and some of their neighbors didn't fare so well. He mentioned some neighbors in a brand new home which was completely smashed by a falling tree. So, all in all, Clabert & Co. are very very lucky and said to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Power is not on the area yet and they have no idea when it will be, and it is unclear when he can gather up the men and supplies needed to remove the tree, so they are still staying with family (no power there either). So, if you have emailed them, it might be a while before they are able to reply. Thanks again for eveyone's concern!!!! They are really lucky!! Stephanie

Posted - September 22 2005 : 07:30:55 AM Hey Steph..I received an email from him this morning stating they were on their way to Austin and it looks like so is everybody else. Unbelievable...I can't imagine going through things and having to decide on what to take and what to leave. If you hear from him again, please let us know. |
