Want to let all our Mohican folks in LA, MS, AL, and TN, KY know I am thinking about you and hope you weather this unbelievable storm (at this time 175 miles per hour and just 225 miles south of the northern Gulf Coast) without damage or harm. If the pressure holds, it will be the only storm close to the power of the Labor Day hurricane of 1935 that leveled Key West. No loss of life with this hurricane would be a miracle!!!

After hearing on the news about some area of "lawlessness" you should definitely be cautious. I hear that some emergency workers refuse to go in some areas without a police escort.

It is so sad to see all of the devastation that was caused by this hurricane, but at least they have caring people like you coming to their aid. Please take care and stay safe.

Hello all.
Well back from Alaska (will write all about it and the visit with Chris another time and place) But now off to the lands of the Hurricane. As some of you may or may not know I volunteer with the American Red Cross Disater Teams, and have been called up. I fly out in the morning. Prayers with all of those that live there.

This could be SOOOO tragic!!! Having been to New Orleans about 8 times, there is so much rich history to be lost in the French Quarter. Sure hope this storm finds a way to weaken before making landfall! |

Yep, Gadget Girl's got it right.This is looking to be "the big one" that New Orleans and folks nearby have been afraid of for years. Thoughts and prayers going out to everybody living in harm's way or who has family/friends in that area. God bless and God speed to all of you...

Sounds like a whopper of a storm and now I hear that there are mandatory evacuations in New Orleans!
