Posted - June 28 2005 : 3:06:58 PM I just drove by Spirits on the River and their sign says that Bill Miller will be performing Thursday July 28! The sign also says "The Cherokee Buffalo Dance." Not sure what that is about. Tickets are $25 for the concert, plus the cost of your dinner and beverages. Those of you familiar with Bill Miller and SOTR know that this event will probably sell out quickly. Bill Miller is the 2005 Grammy Award winner for Best Native American Music Album! Anyone want to go? We could have an UN-official UN-Gathering, not even in jUNe! I'd love to hear from anyone interested in going. If you'd like to call Spirits on the River for more information, the number is 828-299-1404.
See you in July?? Stephanie

Posted - August 02 2005 : 7:13:54 PM Don't know how I missed the announcements and posting about this one, but I sure wish I could have been there. I'm working temporarily as night editor right now though so I couldn't have gotten away anyway. Love the pictures, Diana! Meanwhile, if anybody DOES see the seven foot man anywhere, send him down to Columbia. we'll take him in and treat him right. The pickins down here are mighty slim right now! |

Posted - August 02 2005 : 11:57:39 AM Diana,
I checked out the pics again. I didn't see any captions. But the pics are great.
Stephanie, you're right about Friday. We should have made the trek. That's the 3rd time Karen & I have seen the rain "coincidence" happen. We thought Bill's performance in Indiana would be rained out, but the skies cleared right before he started! By the way, did Sandy get good pictures too?

Posted - August 01 2005 : 9:56:49 PM Diana thanks for posting those pictures! I enjoyed looking at them, yes even the one where you are getting that fabulous hug! Nothing scary there at all, those great smiles make a terrific picture!!!!!!! Rich we found out Thursday night that Bill Miller was playing Bele Chere. I decided to take a "long" lunch break or even take off a half day to join Diana, Jo, Jayne, and Karen, but it poured rain all morning so we nixed the plan and I stayed at work. Here's the odd thing.... right about 1:20 it quit raining where I work, which is not far from downtown where the festival was. The rain held off for most of the afternoon after that, so I figure Bill must really have some connections somewhere to make it stop raining right when he performs. Next time, girls, we'll just have to have a little faith and go for it. Kay and Cherie, you should have been there, and maybe next time you can join us. It was really a good concert and a good time. Ann, do you think Flip will give me my money back since there was no 7-ft man? haha Thanks again for the pictures GG! Stephanie |

Posted - August 01 2005 : 08:58:25 AM What! No Amazing 7-foot Man? I'm devastated, as I was really hoping for more pictures to brighten my fantasy life.
All I can say is, has anyone seen Doc Mary lately? The Mohican Home for the Terminally Weird has been awfully quiet...except for the moans of course. OK Doc, 'fess up....been doing a little abducting? Perhaps an "involuntary commitment"? If so, we need details... |

Posted - July 31 2005 : 4:43:51 PM Kay, Bill WILL be performing in Columbus, IN in October. We confirmed it with him and told him we'd be there! So DO think of heading north!!
Oh, Karen was talking about Bill Miller coming to Columbus. I was wondering why my Bill would be coming up that way. Well, that sounds great, but I doubt very seriously if I could get my Bill up to Columbus to see Bill Miller. It's a tad farther than he really likes to drive to hear anyone sing, but you never know. I am glad that y'all had a good time!!! Even without the 7 ft. hunk.

Posted - July 31 2005 : 2:54:09 PM Hi, all.
Karen & I got home last evening from a wonderful (but SHORT) trip to see Bill Miller at SOTR. Stephanie and Diana made it too, and Sandy and Tammy, two of Stephanie's friends. Also Jo, my friend from Asheville. Bill gave a fantastic performance and told some great stories including his experience as a Grammy winner. We all had a wonderful time (and of course a delicious dinner)! It rained until mins before the concert started and stayed dry for 2 hours. A critical factor since we were on the deck! The river was high, so we heard rippling and gurgling during the entire performance. Just perfect! (Except we missed our many other gathering buddies.) We parted ways Thurs evening with plans to meet in Asheville on Friday to see Bill perform during Belle Cher, but it was pouring rain so we went separate ways. I'm sure pictures from Thurs evening will be posted soon. By the way...no sightings of the 7-ft tall hunk - sorry to report!

Posted - July 31 2005 : 09:54:09 AM Gee Kay, I wish you could join us too. The more the merrier. I'll do my best with the eyelash thing, but I make no promises! You could always come up here to Indiana for a visit this fall when Bill will be in Columbus again. You know you'd have a place to stay.
Karen, I hope that batting the eyelashes worked. I have been waiting to hear an update from one of y'all about the concert. Don't keep us waiting!!! If I ever get up that way, I will make sure to stop by and see you, but I don't think that Bill has any plans that I know of to come up that way. Must be somebody else's Bill that comes up to Columbus in the fall. |

Posted - July 27 2005 : 2:23:05 PM Oh Cherie, I wish I had thought to send you a note and tell you we'd be there! I'm not as organized as I used to be "BD", before Adele. I was wondering when your cruise was as I knew it was coming up in August. Have a wonderful time and give Chris a hug for me if you get to see her. Karen

Posted - July 26 2005 : 12:15:04 PM Karen, I sure would love to join y'all, but I just got back yesterday from up that way. I went to Greensboro to meet up with some friends and on our way home, we decided to go by Cherokee and spend the day. I wish that I could have planned my trip to coincide with the Bill Miller concert so that I could see y'all too!!! Hey, maybe y'all can persuade him to come back to SOTR next June and we will all be able to attend. Just bat your eyelashes and say "pretty please" and I bet that he will do it. Y'all have fun and give us a full report on the mini Gathering!!!
Love, Kay |

Posted - July 07 2005 : 5:21:43 PM Caitlin Caitlin Caitlin tsk tsk tsk Have you not seen the picture I posted last year? Here is the link: http://www.mohicanpress.com/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2382
In case the link doesn't work, look under the forum "Inside the Longhouse" and look for Bill Miller in Asheville. Ok so the picture of the Incredible Seven Foot Man isn't the greatest because the lighting was poor, what can I say? I didn't want him to think I was a stalker so I didn't ask to take any more pictures. Hey, I did what I could!!!! Maybe I could use a little help this year! Apparently he is friends with Bill Miller so I'm almost certain he'll be at the concert. Anybody got a better camera???????

Posted - July 07 2005 : 4:28:22 PM Boy Stephanie, I'd sure love to be there! Don't think it will happen though. I just bought Bill's Grammy winning cd the other day and I love it. If I had known sooner, I could actually have had dinner with him this evening in Columbus, IN. I just read in our paper last evening that he's in town today. He will be having lunch with the mayor and talking about the Ethnic Expo that will be in Columbus this fall. Bill will be performing there. I don't know the date yet, but if anyone is interested I'll post it when I find out. This evening there is a cookout and celebration to celebrate his Grammy at the home of a Columbus woman. The public was invited. If I had known about it sooner, Jayne and I would probably be going! I'm hoping maybe he'll be in town again sometime this summer like he was last year. Unfortunately, Ann, the Amazing Seven Foot Man wasn't with Bill when last we saw him. Another sighting would do my heart good!
