Posted - March 22 2005 : 2:44:28 PM Dad is back in hospital again and has been since last Monday. He started developing edema in his legs over the weekend of March 12 and was readmitted for IV diuretic treatment. While in there, he has contracted a nasty case of bronchitis since respiratory plagues of various kinds are working their way through there like wildfire. The other night so many people on his floor were coughing and hacking it sounded like a TB sanitorium circa 1880. Had he not had such bad coughing and hacking, he probably would have been out of the hospital over the weekend, but as it is now he will probably be in there until Wednesday at least so they can re-tinker with the pacemaker some more, readjust some more medicine as now it is the RIGHT ventricle that is not working as well as it should, and give him more diuretics. Meanwhile, I'm juggling work and driving back and forth between work, home, and hospital. Not exactly the preferred way to spend a couple weeks, but at least we feel he is getting good medical care. Any prayers and good vibes for us would be MUCH appreciated!!! Christina |

Posted - March 29 2005 : 5:34:34 PM Update! Finally got dad out of the hospital yesterday (Monday.) Bronchitis cleared up around Friday but they wanted to keep him in there a couple more days just to make sure everything is stabilized. Edema is pretty much gone, ventricles seem to be working in conjunction now, anemia has been brought under control, new pacemaker seems to be functioning okay. He is kind of tired and out of it but seems to be doing okay. (knock several kinds of wood...) Onward and upward as they say...thanks so much for all the great Mohicanland thoughts and prayers! Keep them coming! And thanks again!

Posted - March 23 2005 : 7:48:43 PM Just wanted to tell you that I'm praying for your dad as well. Being in the hospital sucks! My dad at one point refused to go back, no matter what. I don't blame him. Just being someplace where everyone is involved in every little aspect of your body is enough to exhaust the hardiest of us! Hang in there! Rose |

Posted - March 23 2005 : 10:26:06 AM Me Too, Chris! I hope Zane gets past this last set back post haste. Nosocomial infections are always a problem this time of year. Some hospitals are worse than others, but they ALL have this problem.
Praying for a quick recovery!
