Posted - July 07 2004 : 08:24:15 AM Hey all...
We have a celebrity in our midst!
Go and check out the profile of our newest member, Stormcrow. Take the link to his website. And when you get there, take a listen to the "Radio" link. If, like me, you have a bit of Scottish blood in your veins (or even if you don't), it will be deeply stirred!
Stormcrow, welcome to Mohicanland! I hope you will feel comfortable enough to sit a spell and say Hello.

Posted - July 07 2004 : 3:20:31 PM GG, I'll be with you in spirit! We always wanted to attend the games at Grandfather Mountain when our daughter was competing in Highland dance, but we never got there. Sure would love to see and hear Clanna Drumma. They look awesome! Welcome to Mohicanland, Stormcrow.

Posted - July 07 2004 : 1:55:54 PM I think the formula for the games is the first full weekend after the fourth of July or the second weekend in July.
They have a website that has the dates up for the next year just after this year is completed!
www.ghmg.org
The music is the main reason we go! The bands or groups are set-up in Celtic Groves - little hillsides in the woods with a stage at the bottom of the slope so all can see. Always take a jacket though if you go...mornin's on the mountain can be quite chilly!! Even in July!

Posted - July 07 2004 : 1:42:13 PM So Grandfather Mountain is this weekend? I really miss going there. It seems like Brattonsville (Huck's Defeat) falls on that same weekend every year, and I can't miss that one. I thought the Scottish Games fell around the 17th. I am glad you posted that or I might have been there by myself! |

Posted - July 07 2004 : 10:39:51 AM OMIGOD! It's Tu-Bardh!!!!! I didn't EVEN need to go to their website to know who he was (being a HUGE Clanna Drumma fan since seeing them at the Highland Games last summer)!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the group I posted about last summer that wrote and performed Sgt. MacKenzie , the haunting song from the movie We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson.
AND...am going to see them AGAIN this weekend at The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games!!! Cecelia and her beau, Drew, and me and my beau, Brent, are all going!!!! ANYBODY WANT TO JOIN US??

This is a photo from the GMHG site of Clann an Drumma - Tu-Bardh is on the far right! The fellow to the immediate left of Tu-Bardh is Jamsie - WHOA!!!! TO see these guys in action is beyond words! I wish you guys could have seen "the zone" Christina goes into when listening to this group!!!! Such haunting primitive rhythms that you can't be still when hearing them if you've an ounce of Celtic blood!!! Can't wait until Friday evening!!!
WELCOME Tu-Bardh!!!!
