I really do love it!

Those of you who do or have lived here know exactly what I am talking about when I say it is really beautiful. New York state has the greenest green I have ever seen. And I always thought Oregon was really green, but New York has it beat. Perhaps it's because the winters can be so brutal, it's God's way of making up for it, or something.

One of my favorite things to do is to take a brisk walk in the evening, down to our local village park, which has a nice walking trail around and through the great tall maple and oak trees that grow there. The park sits right next to the Chenango River, and one portion of the trail runs right along the bank. I wear my walk-man, and if I play the LOTM soundtrack, pretend that my feet are treading on soft forest trail instead of hard black paving, and keep my eyes searching through the woods for Magua and the Huron war party... well... let's just say that in my imagination it can be a very Mohican Moment. And I am in Heaven!

Ahhhhhh.... Spring in New York.......

Yep, haven't been around much with the move. Been without internet access for 2 weeks. I'm hoping to go to grad. school, as well as volunteer or work at one of the several historic sites in the area. I've got all summer to explore.

You did?!?

That's really neat, CT-R! I remember that you recently took a trip that took you from the mid-west through the Mohawk Valley. Was that an exploration/job search trip? Is this why you haven't been around Mohicanland much recently?

You are in a good spot from which to "radiate" out in your explorations. You have a lot to see in this beautiful colony!!

I lived in Owego, New York for two years (1992-1994)on a farm up in the hills, miles from anyone. It was heaven...in all seasons, but especially in the summer when my gardens and orchards were producing so much I couldn't keep up with the canning! I had to be dragged back to my home state, Florida when the MacLeod's job in Owego with IBM ended. In Florida there are no seasons...just hot, hotter and "Oh my god the asphalt is melting!". We are currently in the last mentioned season...and will be until November.

NY is very beautiful. I recently moved to the capital region and am adjusting well. The area is so full of history it's amazing. I'm walking distance from the Mohawk River, and a short drive from the Adirondacks or the Hudson, or Mohawk Valley, or Lake George or Champlain. So many historical sites to visit! And it's all beautiful and still very much rural. Upstate reminds me very much of the midwest.

I live in NY. In the foothills of the Catskill Mountains actually so when you talk to someone from the big apple, I am upstate but when you talk to someone from Rochester, I'm downstate. Hmmmm...
Sometimes I feel like an oreo lol.

I have to say that NY is a beautiful state. The bald eagles are flying around again. A bear ripped apart our coop and ate our rabbit two weeks ago.

The only thing I hate is the cold, ice and snow.
Time to move south like u Rich.

I miss those upstate NY springs. Here, in NC, it can be like that, but more often it's on the muggy side ... like right now ... a peek at the summer months to come ...
