Posted - January 20 2003 : 08:07:55 AM Since I have not yet seen any of the movies involved, I cannot venture an opinion regarding the performances of the winners.
I will say that I was surprised that Jack Nickelson won over DD-L. Personally, I don't care a whit for Jack... so I wasn't pleased about that. But Martin Scorcese (spelling?) won as Director for "Gangs"... so that's good.
I fell asleep, so did not see which movie won for best Drama... ??
Personal opinion: I think Daniel needs to grow some hair back! I thought he looked horrible.
Ciao! WW

Posted - January 21 2003 : 11:48:24 AM LOL, okay, if you REALLY want to know...hehehe They both belong in the "WHAT were you thinking!?!?" category. Sharon was wearing some black thing that looked like it got caught in a blender, the skirt was all shreds of material, and high black boots - think Madonna wannabe; Lara F.B. had on this pink tutu looking thing with pink shoes that had ribbons going up her calf a la ballerina slippers...I was waiting for her to pop out of a music box and spin around (at least it wasn't as bad as Bjork's 'swan dress'). I'm sure there are pictures somewhere on the net. At least all the other dresses I saw in the total 5 minutes I saw were in good taste.

Posted - January 20 2003 : 7:44:34 PM I didn't watch much, but glad GONY won something. I'm not a fan of the shaved DDL...I like some hair on a guy's head. lol And dresses on women...I won't get into what some of the chickies were wearling ( Sharon Stone, Lara Flynn Boyle... ) |

Posted - January 20 2003 : 10:18:38 AM What I'm hearing is that Jack is a real Hollywood schmoozer and they really like him for that. Of course, we all know that Daniel doesn't fit that mold (thank goodness). And perhaps Jack summed it up best when he said he was disappointed because he thought he had made a comedy. With that said and if his movie was indeed better suited for the comedy category, then Daniel was certainly robbed.
Glad to see Martin Scorsese win. And U2, too.
About the hair...I much prefer Daniel with it but the shaved look is sorta growing on me....sorta.

Posted - January 20 2003 : 08:35:13 AM Daniel's hair is often a point of discussion on DDL message boards (right, Christina?), and most feel the same way you do. The Hours won for best motion picture - Drama. GONY also won best song - The Hands That Built America, by U2. At least it was good to see Martin win - maybe the Academy will do GONY more justice. I had heard going in that it would be close between Jack and DDL.
