Bea just picked up a $3.99 movie at the grocery store the other day. She promptly pulled it out of her bag when she got home to show me that it was an Indian movie featuring our beloved Eric Shweig. It's called Follow the River and the copyright said 1995. It appears to be another small Canadian production. It was not too bad-LOTM is still better though!

I do own this movie, part of my Eric Schweig collection. Not watched it in a while but I do enjoy it and "Wildcat" is quite a piece of "eye candy". I agree about Ellen Burstyn as "Gretel" just brilliant. Like it even thought the ending is "far fetched".

You got quite the bargain for $3.99 Kay especially if it was a DVD

Stephie!! How nice to see you posting!

Kay, that movie was apparently a made-for-TV movie, and I saw it on TV when it first came out. It is, indeed, eye candy for Uncas Fans. There were some aspects of it that are pretty good. I enjoyed Ellen Burstyn's performance as the old German woman.

I confess to being a bit disappointed in it, because I had read the book several years prior. The book is far, far better, in my opinion. And yes.... the ending is just all wrong, and highly unlikely.

Still, one must take the whole story to heart and appreciate the incredible journey of survival Mary Ingles underwent. That she survived and made it home is absolutely a miracle.

I loved that movie, and apparently it's based on a true story (except for the ending). Also, it was filmed on location in western NC, not too far from some of the LOTM scenes.
Those of you who attended Gathering 2008 may remember seeing photos from the filming of "Follow the River" at Blue Ridge Motion Pictures Studio, along with photos from LOTM and other local films, such as "Thunder Road."
Look for a possible tie-in to "Thunder Road" at Gathering 2010...stay tuned, more to come!

Ah, yes, "Follow the River". Good movie!! Good eye candy too! Like you said not as good as LOTM but still one worth watching a few times. Not a bad price either
