Posted - June 18 2008 : 10:06:47 AM Well I got around to watching this movie last night starring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johannson and Eric Bana and I enjoyed it very much. They made Mary Boleyn out to be the "sweetheart" and Anne quite the schemeing little #itch. I did not think Eric Bana made a good Henry V111. Don't get me wrong as lookswise he was quite handsome but nothing at all like the "real Henry" and something was just lacking in his performance like enthusiasm for the part. JRM in "The Tudors" does a much better job. Scarlett was good as was Natalie as Anne.
I am so used to the actors in "The Tudors" that I found it strange to see someone else portray Thomas Boleyn and George Boleyn and others but they did an adequate job. I liked the inclusion of Elizabeth Boleyn played by Kristin Scott Thomas (not seen her in ages). She was excellent as the mother.
The movie was good and gave me my "Tudors" fix for the time being. I just love all the costumes and scenery but wish they had included some "jousting" Just wondering if anyone else has seen this movie and cares to comment. |

Posted - June 19 2008 : 09:07:35 AM I seen it at the store the other day and I didn't pick it up. I guess I'm just waiting for it to come down in price. I'll rent it this weekend though, can't wait! Like Irish, I need my "Tudor's" fix!! |

I agree, Bana is a looker, but I didn't "believe" him as Henry VIII. It just didn't seem like a good fit.
The costuming is always something to admire.... I wish I could sew like that!
