winglo	Posted - May 17 2008 : 3:12:43 PM I saw The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian last night. I'll be curious to see what others think of it, if anyone else sees it. It's nothing I would rave on and on about, but I thought it was o.k. I found the last 1/2 hour a little boring. I haven't read the book, but my husband and daughter tell me that it doesn't follow the book very closely at all.

Think Obadiah Hakeswill from the "Sharpe's" series and Obadiah Slope from "The Barchester Chronicles" starring none other than my dear, sweet Alan Rickman. Now this Obadiah Stane.....anything you want to tell us Obadiah???? Changing a letter to throw us off eh?
Obediah	Posted - January 19 2009 : 7:46:21 PM Actually, Jeff Bridges' character was named "Obadiah," which is the correct Biblical spelling IIRC. Picky, picky, picky...
Irishgirl	Posted - January 19 2009 : 1:24:42 PM Okay, I watched this movie Saturday night and while I loved the first one, this one I found mostly boring and way too long. I did watch "Iron Man" last night and found it highly entertaining and Robert Downey Jr was excellent in this role. I watched with my ten year old son thinking I would not like it (not one for superhero movies) but was surprised by this one. Looking forward to the sequel already. Even an "Obediah" in it but he wasn't as nice as our dear Obi. Barely recognized Jeff Bridges, took a while to figure out who he was.
Kay	Posted - January 13 2009 : 4:26:02 PM I went over to a friends house last night to watch Prince Caspian for the first time. I liked it- a bit darker and sadder then the first one in my opinion but it was good. I liked The Lion,the Witch and,the Wardrobe too. And of course as always I like the soundtrack! I have never read the books but I'd like to. I use to watch the BBC version of Chronicles of Narnia on PBS when I was really small. I just watched those again for the first time in 15yrs or so. I still enjoyed them but got a lot more laughter out of them-esp. w/ the rubber serpent in the Silver Chair! But even w/out all the fancy special effects I found them just as enjoyable as when I was 5. Kay
caitlin	Posted - May 20 2008 : 12:37:05 PM I highly recommend reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I thoroughly enjoyed them as a child. And yes, they normally are not introduced in chronological order. It should be: The Magician's Nephew The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe The Horse and His boy Prince Caspian The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader The Silver Chair The Last Battle A friend of mine years ago gave me a book called A Guild Through Narnia and it is filled with maps, index of names & places and chronology. I look forward to seeing the new movie, but as usual, the written word and using one's imagination is always better. Best I go dust off my collection and go through the journey again.

I love his adult books and essays, but they sit by my bedside for a few weeks as I can only process a small amount at a time. They challenge me! However, I have tried on numerous occasions to read the Chronicles of Narnia and just can't get into them. But, I think you may have hit on why--he's writing down, so it's like it's not him, y'know? My husband told me about how the making of the movies seems to be skipping around in the order of the novels. They must be looking for the ones with enough action to attract an audience or something.
Obediah	Posted - May 19 2008 : 12:49:04 PM I though it compared well to TLTW&TW. My wife liked it really well too & so did our granddaughter, who said it was better than the first one. She's 12, so go figure... The movie critic for our local fishwrap hated it, but we all know that the first pre-requesite of being a movie critic is not having a CLUE as to what makes a good movie! Just 2 more years till the next flick, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader... I've started re-reading the 7 Narnia novels (last read about 30 years ago). I find it a little difficult, because these are definiitely written as children's books. But then if anyone here has read or attempted to read any of his adult books, you know they're not to easy to get through, either. It's obvious that the Narnia stories were written down towards kids, but his adult books were just as obviously written down towards adults! I believe C.S. Lewis had more working brain cells than all of us combined! One final note for any of you who care about this sort of thing: chronologically, TLTW&TW is #2, Prince Caspian is #4, & Dawn Treader is #5.
