Posted - December 09 2007 : 10:33:06 PM Okay I watched about the first hour or so earlier this afternoon and I just could not get into it. I kept hoping it would "improve" but alas, it did not. I finally "gave up" on it which was just as well since I had to make dinner, time much better spent. |

This is why they make more than one movie... people feel differently about what they like and dislike.. |

Posted - December 08 2007 : 4:08:27 PM I happened to love The New World. It's hauntingly accurate and I always catch something new with each viewing. And for what little music is in the film, it's beautiful. Nothing stylish about the film, just simple. |

Posted - December 08 2007 : 10:03:10 AM Well as I said .. I liked it.. it was well done and beat the hell outta Diana Ross/Michael Jackson's "The Wiz". And Kathleen Robertson was smokin' hot!..
I want to go see "No Country" and probably will, you can't go by what other people like or dislike really...anyway the theatre showing it has a bar...beer always helps .
Mike I hated the "New World" too..I even bought it and I can't watch it.. I got 30 minutes into it and saw it was gonna be another artsy-fartsy Terrence Malick "work of art". I also hated his "Thin Red Line" and have nearly gotten into some very heated arguements over my lack of "artistic temperment". |

Posted - December 07 2007 : 9:10:40 PM Only movie I've really walked out on is "New World", just couldn't handle that Indian girl prancing around in an artsy way trying to catch butterflies. I did like some of the clothing, but even that couldn't bring anything alive with that movie. They had a chance to produce a great historical movie, but then turned it into an artsy, fartsy film instead. |

Posted - December 07 2007 : 6:55:32 PM There you go a prime example of critics ranting and raving about some movie and you did not like it.
Still everyone seems to hate Tin Man so I shall have to give it a try but it surely sounds like a "stinker" to me from what is being said. |

Irish, you got that right! My son and I went to see No Country For Old Men because it got great reviews and we both HATED it. We're still scratching our heads as to what we're not getting that everyone else seems to be. |

Posted - December 07 2007 : 12:01:27 AM The actress who played "D.G", Dorothy Gail, usually plays sarcastic, down out of their luck kind of characters. She just wasn't convincing to me, or my brother, as the lead role. Some of the lines she spoke could've used stronger delivery.

Posted - December 05 2007 : 3:46:57 PM I stayed up and watched the first part and didn't care for it too much. Just not my cup of tea. I prefer the original over the new redo. |

Posted - December 05 2007 : 1:16:33 PM My husband taped it, but with the varying opinions I see here, I'm not sure whether to watch it or not. |

Posted - December 05 2007 : 10:01:33 AM Me too . Just couldn't get hooked on it. My hubby even said it was a boring modern remake of The Wizard of Oz. |

Posted - December 05 2007 : 01:09:52 AM Just finished watching the ending. I liked it. It was faithful to the story and updated it as well. Kudos to the writers and the the cast. Well done. |
