Posted - April 20 2006 : 11:07:36 AM It's called (ironically) "Pathfinder," and according to the latest issue of Premiere magazine, it comes out on July 14. The subject is the Viking discovery of North America -- a Viking boy is shipwrecked, adopted and raised by Indians, then has to fight his own (genetically, that is) people when they return and invade. The protagonist will be played by Karl Urban, who was Eomer in the second and third installments of LOTR. |

Well I sure hope that does not apply to his role in the upcoming "Comanche Moon" mini-series in which he plays Woodrow Call. I have been looking forward to this one for a year now. Still pissed that Eric did not sign on to play Buffalo Hump again. Will I ever get over it you ask, probably not..... |

Posted - April 29 2007 : 11:20:19 PM Hey Irish...we'll both have to rent it one night and talk to each other on the phone while we watch it. Wouldn't it be fun to sit there over all those NA men! |

Posted - April 28 2007 : 3:35:35 PM Well Obi, just makes me curious to see it now to see if it really is as bad as you say.
I liked Clancy Brown as the Kurgan and I loved him as the Preacher in HBO's "Carnivale". What a deep, sexy voice that guy has. Look forward to seeing him also in this one.
So poor Chingy dies in this one and a gruesome death to boot. Oh well, still be fun to see our boys pa again. |

Yeah, Russell's getting up there in years but I don't call that old. I call it vintage and with vintage the older the better.

Posted - April 25 2007 : 09:09:50 AM Light, try not to feel to badly, when you watch the Pathfinder (Russell Means) die a particularly gruesome death! As an aside, man! isn't Chingy looking old?! ... but as I always say "Growing old is unavoidable; growing up is optional." |

Posted - April 23 2007 : 10:32:39 AM Actually, for those of you who care, Pathfinder was finally released on April 13. Perhaps it would have been better for them to realease it straight to video. I was less than impressed. It may have had some good parts, but I'm at a loss to remember what they were. However, here's a quick list of the weaknesses -- fancy/schmancy photography (ie, dark [overexposed], brooding & blurry], some really lame sets (were those mountains left over from an original Star Trek episode?), the stereotypes -- the "Noble Redmen" peaceful hunters/gatherers vs. the evil murtherous (neat word!) Vikings, Russell Means just mailed in his performance, Karl Urban has a mean "worried frown" but I think that's caused by the shape of his eyes. Oh yeah, where do you find 15,000 ft mountains on the east coast?? Now that I think of it, the Vikings were pretty cool; they had all the personality in this film. And...Clancy Brown (the Kurgan from the original Highlander movie) was suitably brutish and evil as the Viking leader.
Overall, I'd give it a C-. To put it another way, I won't be buying this video when it comes out in DVD. |

Posted - April 20 2006 : 12:36:55 PM Yes, I have heard of this movie and it sounds really good. Jay Tavare is also in this (The Missing) and I was pleased to hear about Russell's part too. |
