Posted - July 18 2005 : 1:05:38 PM The other day I was feeling lazy, so turned on the TV to channel surf. When I got to the WE channel, I found that a movie was just starting. When I saw the title, I was quite intrigued, so I watched. It turned out to be one of the most charming movies I have ever seen.
The most unusual title is:
"The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain."
Yes. It was made in 1995 and stars Hugh Grant. It takes place in Wales in 1917, so it is full of gorgeous scenery, wonderfully quirky characters, and an absolutely charming storyline.
Anyone else seen this? If not, I highly recommend it. |

I remember seeing this and thinking, "I have to go there!" I have Welsh ancestry (Evans), and fell in love with the scenery. Knowing that the story is based on a true one, I was excited, because if and when I get to go to the British Isles, I can go to that actually hill/mountain!
As for Hugh Grant, he did a wonderful movie called "Four Weddings and a Funeral", or was it "Three Weddings and a Funeral"? However many, it was an interesting and charming movie, as well. He usually portrays simpy, indecisive men, rather that someone cocky and forceful, which is why women like him so much. He's sort of like a lost puppy. He also did "Bridget Jones' Diary", and I LOVED that -- Anything Renee Zelweiger does is fine by me! |
