This "DD-L Interview Alert" is for anyone who is an avid, rabid, devoted - and dare I say, "obsessed" - fan of DD-L (just kidding about the "obsessed" part so please, don't call the cops on me just yet - or worse yet, Doc Mary !)!!!

I just found out that there will be a profile of Daniel Day-Lewis on 60 Minutes this Wednesday, March 30TH at 8:00 p.m. EST on CBS!!!

I was visiting the dd-l.net webpage (http://www.dd-l.net/ ) & someone from 60 Minutes named Al Kahwaty sent an email to the host of that site to let her know about the upcoming interview. He ended his message by saying, "Please feel free to respond to this e-mail with any questions you might have."

This is a GREAT opportunity to send some of those burning questions you might have about DD-L to the folks at 60 Minutes!

My husband would be well advised not to get between me & the television at 8:00 this Wednesday night - and God help him if he even REACHES for the remote, *LOL*!

Seems DDL has abandoned the bald look -- good decision!

Hello all! Yeah, what a bummer. That "breaking news" was about as stupid as stupid gets! I'm from the south and have quite an "accent", but listening to that lady that was interviewed got on my last nerve. As I've mentioned here earlier, I love DD-L's accent and was so primed-and-ready for him -- then we got "treated" to the Carolina Panthers steroid abuse report. Duh?!?! Football players on steriods? Who would have thought such a thing! I sure feel better knowing that's been reported!

Message to Doc M: That 99-1757 model was a real treat! You did good with that replicant! Yep, I guess I'm just a Frontier Babe, allright! Gotta love those Frontier Men, though!

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that 60 Minutes will report something worthwhile on April 13th. I didn't get a chance to check the DD-L website yesterday, but I'll bet people were fuming.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Christina,

Thanks for letting folks know about the profile that was supposed to be on 60 Minutes last night...but wasn't. I checked the message board over at ddl.net earlier this morning & the webmaster was fuming - along with DD-L fans everywhere!

Some guy claiming to work for CBS had sent her an email a few days ago about the DD-L piece & after everyone watched 60 Minutes last night and/or taped it - only to discover that the show didn't include one thing about Daniel! - folks are beginning to wonder if maybe this was just a ploy by CBS to boost their ratings. The guy "from CBS" has since sent another email to the ddl.net webmaster & claims that the story is now scheduled to air on the April 13TH broadcast of 60 Minutes. We'll just have to wait & see...

The stories that 60 Minutes DID broadcast last night were nothing short of awful - and if the "breaking news" about the Carolina Panthers or that piece about the guy who doesn't like baseball anymore were chosen over the DD-L story, somebody at CBS needs to have their head examined. I say we take the whole bunch of 'em and turn 'em over to Doc Mary!
Doc M Posted - March 31 2005 : 1:42:23 PM
Dear AliceH -- oh, the old "sun moon stars we're a breed apart
baby" speech, eh? Yeah, that's my old Number 99-1757 pat. pend.
model with the minicasette recording of "Pickup Lines For
Frontier Babes." Don't give him any beer -- he also has a
"drinks and wets" feature. We discontinued that function in the
later models for obvious reasons.

PS Supposedly the interview from 60 Minutes will be rebroadcast
in a couple of weeks, unless another hard-hitting breaking news
story about steroid use by pro athletes comes along. I for one
am shocked, SHOCKED by this revelation and hope that Congress
stops worrying about things like the economy and war and
social security and gets right on this.

Just for everybody's information, the 60 minutes interview did NOT air last night. Instead, the good folks at CBS treated us to a "breaking news" story on the earth-shattering news that three Carolina Panthers football players once used steroids. Then we also got a two part boring interview with the former CEO of GE, and an earth-shattering atmosphere piece on some guy who doesn't like baseball anymore .
Their time and energy would have been much better served airing the Daniel interview. maybe it will be on again later in the future. Oh well...
AliceH Posted - March 30 2005 : 7:45:34 PM
Dear Diane B and Doc Mary: Y'all are cracking me up! I just wanted to update you, though. While you were discussing Hurons, tattoos, DD-L and I were having a blast! He's been telling me about the moon, sun, stars - that we are a breed apart, but he'll make an exception in my case. He told me not to worry about the Hurons forcing me off a cliff, and when I get bored with him (like that will ever happen), I guess I can move on to Uncas. Oh, my ... what's a girl to do? Decisions, decisions.

I was looking at the DD-L website and noticed a couple of posts about tonight's 60 Minutes episode. I looked at the CBS site and didn't see any info on an interview tonight, but who knows? I sure am going to watch, though. Hopefully, our wonderful DD-L won't be rescheduled for something else.

If we are fortunate enough to spend the evening with Daniel, we'll have to meet here later and compare notes. Have a good evening!
Diane B. Posted - March 29 2005 : 8:37:34 PM
Dear, sweet, Doc Mary - how very clever of you to "stamp" those numbers on his... [ahem!] Anyway, since DD-L already has several tattoos elsewhere on his body, I thought nothing of it when I discovered those numbers - well, almost nothing, except..."I wonder how she got him to hold still for that?!"

OK, now it's time to get down to business! Alice H., I would consider asking your assistance in my next attempt to finally free our beloved Daniel from the dear demented Doctor but, with your name being Alice, I fear she would send out a band of her Huron "gentlemen" to dispatch you off of the nearest cliff, post-haste!

SO, Doc Mary, just remember - I will be coming for him! And Daniel, if you happen to read this..."I WILL FIND YOU! NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES, NO MATTER HOW FAR - I WILL FIND YOU!"
Doc M Posted - March 29 2005 : 2:42:08 PM
Oh, my dear -- Doc M keeps many replicas on hand, just for poor
deluded wenches like yourself to "rescue." Didn't you notice the
numbers stamped on his...well, never mind, never mind. Least said,
soonest mended, as my old granny used to say.

Now, I didn't say my Hurons didn't like to be bitten at ALL -- just
when they're on duty. A good chomp or two during "recess" is never
taken amiss, in my experience.

Kissies!

Doc M

Doc Mary, how good to hear from you! I do believe that you misunderstood my initial post, however; I wasn't concerned about having you find out about the DD-L interview, not at all! I know that you're quite fond of him & I was actually thinking about sending you a private email message, just to make sure you knew about the interview & didn't miss it!

No, MY concern was that you would read my post & then decide that I needed one of your special "treatments" for my admitted "obsession" with DD-L!

As for the Hurons of which you speak, I am already acquainted with them - well, some of them, anyway. I guess they didn't tell you about helping me spring DD-L from your secret clinic, and then replacing him with a clone...??? Great guys, those Hurons - they'll do most anything for some wampum & brandy (and a tavern wench or two!)!!! Oh - and as for trying to bite them, I found one or two that actually LIKED that!
Doc M Posted - March 29 2005 : 1:42:51 PM
Why, Diane B., why on earth would you be concerned that Kindly Old
Doc M would find out about this? Hmmmm??? As long as you remember
to keep your distance from my beloved DD-L...a half-mile would
be reasonable, I think -- you'll have no trouble from me. Now that
I think about it, perhaps just to be on the safe side I'll send
some lovely Huron gentlemen to your domicile and they'll escort
you to...what shall I call it??...Doc M's SPECIAL SECRET HIDEY
HOLE! Yes, that's it! And you can sit there and sit there and
sit there and think about Daniel allllll you want. Okey-doke?
Just don't try to bite the Hurons when they come to fetch you...
it makes them testy.

Huggies!

Doc M

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the quote (from the NY Times). That's interesting. I'm glad to meet someone who shares my interest in DD-L. I, like you, could listen to him all day. Regarding getting his other films, I'm doing the same thing. I recently purchased "Unbearable Lightness of Being" - had to purchase it from eBay because it's out of print. I must say it's "different", but I'm glad I watched it. I guess I've always been a fan of his (before LOTM), and enjoy his other roles, but he'll always be Hawkeye to me. It's hard to watch his other films and not compare him to Hawkeye. I still haven't watched "Gangs of New York" all the way through - I hate to see him being such a bad fellow!

You can always email me with updates and/or information on DD-L. Or we can just chat about our guy!

Have a great day!

Hi, Alice,

Always happy to meet & share info about DD-L with a fellow fan!

Daniel Day-Lewis is truly a genius & I love to hear him interviewed almost as much as I love to watch his movies! However, he apparently isn't all that taken with listening to himself, as himself, if you know what I mean; he seems more comfortable getting inside the skin of someone else, which includes speaking with a different accent.

In a recent interview in the NY Times he was talking about accents, including his own: "The sound of my household," he says, "was educated English middle class. And while English middle class society is, I'm sure, endlessly fascinating to some people, it isn't to me. There's something I find frustrating about the sound of my own voice in my own ears. It's hard for me to believe that that can be interesting."

WELL, while he might not like the sound of his own voice in his own ears, I can't get enough of it!

I'm working on purchasing VHS tapes and/or DVD's of all of his films - and I believe he's only made 14 films over the course of his career. In this generation, at least, he is truly unmatched as an actor & while I would love to see him work more, I can truly understand his reasons for "letting the fields lay fallow" between projects. His performances are always well worth the wait!

Thank you for the info. I, too, will be in front of the TV ready to snarl at anyone who tries to change the channel, etc. I'm a huge fan of DDL as well, and love to see him interviewed. I recently watched "The Making of Gangs of New York" and saw him discuss his character, the movie itself, and I love his accent. Don't know if I like that shaved head, but he's a hunk just the same! Thanks again! I'll be sure to tune in.
