Well, DDL's latest movie has opened in New York, and after reading some reviews, I'm sure not planning to rush up there and see it . . .

It was only here a week and I missed it. I'm going to have to wait for the DVD along with everyone else.

Hi, Chris!

Did you have the opportunity to see BOJAR when it played in the theater up your way??? If so, I would be interested in reading your "review" here on the Board!

That's good news. I'll definitely rent it. Whether or not I buy it remains to be seen.

As I suspected, Christina, the lucky folks in Arlington, VA had an opportunity to see BOJAR on the big screen! That was on April 1ST - and it was also shown on that date in Fairfax, VA. It was also shown at two different locations in Washington, DC on that same date, and in Atlanta, GA too! I see that it's also scheduled to be shown in Wilmington, VA on May 20TH - AND I just discovered that it will be playing in Williamsburg, VA at the Kimball on June 25TH! Williamsburg is a LOT closer to where I live so maybe I can go see it then...if I can wait that long! "See you in June...?!"

In checking other upcoming dates & locations, BOJAR will be playing in Charlotte, NC on May 6TH; and in Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill, NC on May 13TH. BOJAR is also scheduled to be shown in our beloved Asheville at the Fine Arts on May 27TH! Hmmmm...a drive to Asheville to watch BOJAR, followed by a couple of days hiking around in DuPont State Forest...sounds like an opportunity for a great spring weekend getaway to Mohicanland! I like the sound of that idea!

To get a peek at all of the locations where BOJAR is going to be shown, click on the link below:

And to Chris Boone: HEADS UP, GIRL - BOJAR is going to be shown in Anchorage on April 22ND!

When / if anyone from this site goes to see this film, PLEASE post some comments here about it for the rest of us!
Diane B. Posted - March 29 2005 : 7:48:41 PM
I seriously doubt that BOJAR will be shown in any theaters in Virginia - well, maybe someplace like Arlington or some other really "big town" like that - but last I heard, my choices were still driving to Washington, DC or central NC if I had any hopes of seeing it on the big screen!

So, Christina, you're not alone because in reality, the only way I'm going to ever see this movie is if/when it comes out on DVD.
Christina Posted - March 29 2005 : 5:50:41 PM
It will probably be 2007 before this sees the light of day down here in good ol' Columbia. We have one count em ONE screen at our "art house" movie theater...and no BOJAR in sight...sigh...
this probably isn't one I'm going to see on the big screen anyway. His character is supposedly sick and dying and considering experiences I've had in recent years I tend to avoid that subject in film in any way...but I will definitely check out the 60 minutes interview!
Diane B. Posted - March 28 2005 : 2:33:45 PM
Better scurry on back over to the ddl.net webpage - someone from 60 Minutes sent an email to them & said that they (60 Minutes) are doing a profile on Daniel Day-Lewis this Wednesday night (8:00 p.m. EST)!

Of course, after you've checked out that information, you should scurry right back here to Mohicanland!

Awesome, thanks for the link, Diane! I'll be sure to check out the reviews!

Thanks for the link, Diane -- I would like to read some favorable reviews! And here's an article you'll like, complete with photo showing DDL's latest look:

(I think you'll have to sign in, but it's free.) Sounds like the marriage is a very happy one. (We're glad about that, right?)

And I, on the other hand, am absolutely DYING to see it! I have watched every movie trailer, read every preview and review I could find - including those containing "spoilers" - and listened to every audio and televised interview out there with DD-L and RM discussing this movie. I just wish that the film were being put out in wider release; as it is, it looks like I'm going to have to drive to Washington, DC or central NC if I want to see this film on the big screen!

Caitlin, if you'd like to read first-hand reviews from folks who have seen the movie, visit http://www.dd-l.net/ and check out the posts on the bulletin board there. Be especially sure to read what trez has to say about DD-L in this movie (Re: Who Has Seen BOJAR Opening Night posted 3/26/05). It sounds as though DD-L has turned in yet another brilliant performance - no surprise there!

And for Bookworm, there are other reviews of the movie posted there as well (Chicago Tribune, LA Times, NY Times, etc).

I just found out about the movie listening to NPR. Terri Grosse did an interview with Rebecca Miller. At first I didn't know who she was talking to. I caught it at the tale end - heard DDL's name mentioned and started to listen.
The plot seems... well, interesting to say the least. Has anyone seen the movie?
