Dillon1836	Posted - February 22 2005 : 1:08:32 PM In any film. What's your favorite movie moment(s). Mine would be in the Alamo (2004) when Crockett plays the fiddle atop the main gate. And ofcourse, the amazing last stand scene and when he confronts Santa Anna. Very defiant scenes. Also, another scene I liked was in "Last of the Mohicans" when Hawkeye is running through the woods to hunt the deer. That was great cinematography there and very beautiful. What are yours? ~Wade

And a few lines later: Arthur: I don't suppose you could, uh, tell us where we might find a, um--find a, uh-- a, um-- a, uh-- Enchanter: A what...? ARTHUR: A g-- a-- a g-- a g-- a-- a g-- Enchanter: A grrrrrrrrrail?! This scene cracks me up every time I see it. I don't know why. Just does. Obediah	Posted - December 13 2006 : 12:34:10 PM There a too many "movie moments" to count, so here are just a few: Tombstone (1) -- the opening scene, with the Federales' wedding intersperced with the galloping horses; Tombstone (2) -- in which Wyatt slaps Billy Bob Thornton's character silly & then asks "You gonna do something, or are you just going to stand there and bleed?" Blazing Saddles (1 of many) -- "More beans, Mister Taggart?" 'Nuff said. Tunes of Glory -- Sir Alec Guiness' speech at the end. It brought tears to my eyes...pretty powerful stuff to a teen-aged boy. Murder in Coweta County -- Sheriff Lamar Potts (Johnny Cash), as his men were heading to search the mansion, to the crowd facing them: "Any of you touch my men, I'll kill 'em." The 1st time I saw that, I back-pedalled away from the screen in a hurry! BTW, this is based on a true story. BTW #2, if you don't believe Andy Griffith can play a villian (unbelievably evil), just watch this movie!
YoungNative	Posted - March 02 2005 : 4:31:40 PM I think my favorite scene from any movie, has to be the speech given by aragorn infront of the black gate, in the Lord of the Rings, return of the king.....but there are so many moments in all those three movies that i just loved. I'm a sucker for movies, so theres so many different scenes in so many different movies, that are good. -mark
blueotter	Posted - February 25 2005 : 5:51:08 PM This is not necessarily my favorite -- I have many and wouldn't be able to choose just ONE -- but here's a scene in The Patriot: young Gabriel is saying goodbye to his fiancee (can't remember her name right at this moment) after having spent the night with her -- he in a bundling bad sewn up by her mother. They are kissing, and when they finally part each of them has ink in their teeth and are grinning like mad! -- from Rob Roy: Robert and Mary and their 2 sons have stopped at a standing stone atop a high mountain (hill? ridge?) and they send the boys on down to their home while they stay and... um... sit by the standing stone. And of course the next-to-the-last scene of the movie where Archie gets his entire vile self cleaved nearly in half by Rob Roy. I never was so glad to see someone killed in so horrible a manner. -- from Twin Falls Idaho -- when the conjoined twins know that the one brother is going to die, and the other is going to finally be free, even though he loves his brother beyond words, there is a scene where they are riding bicycles on a road in the mountains as two separate beings, then one of the twins is on a part of the road that had collapsed and on the verge of falling, and they say goodbye to each other. Not only was it incredibly sad, but it made me happy too, because it shows that the actors playing the conjoined twins are not really conjoined. For those of you who haven't seen this movie, the name stands for the Twins, whose last name is Falls, and they have gone to the city to find their mother who abandoned them as babies... and their sad, dim hotel room is on Idaho Street. It's a quirky little movie, but has a lot of heart. I can tell right now that many of you would not dream of watching such a film, but it's not violent, it's not pornographic, and it's done beatifully. The twins are the director/writer/actors, though I cannot remember which of them does which. I don't have the DVD yet, but it's on my list of those to own. Rose

It is after the "sisters" are talking about that soldier fella and Darcy's sister is playing the piano and she falters (because she had once been with wicked old Wickham) and Elizabeth rushes to her side to turn her music page and says something like "Oh dear I've been neglecting you. How can you play with no one to turn your pages" - Then she glances at Darcy and OH THOSE EYES - SPARKLE CITY!!!! GG...DREAMY SIGH!

Wilderness Woman	Posted - February 25 2005 : 08:38:16 AM The music begins softly sort of edging itself into your consciousness... The camera takes you high into the air flying over the Swiss Alps... Into your focus comes a lovely green mountaintop... A lone figure is running across the pasture... The camera swoops low as you focus in on that figure... The music swells and fills the senses... And the hills come alive... With the Sound of Music, as the lovely voice of Julie Andrews fills my world. This one makes my heart swell every time I see it.
Dillon1836	Posted - February 24 2005 : 8:20:07 PM Another scene is from the comedy "Anchorman: The Legend of ROn Burgundy" with Will Ferrell. The one liners are simply hilarious. The one I love is this one. "Eat the cat poop!" And Will Ferrell replies in a child like tantrum "NO, I will not eat cat poop!" Then, he eats it.
Christina	Posted - February 23 2005 : 1:49:32 PM Probably one of my all-time favorites comes from a comedy that is also my all-time favorite movie, "Jumpin Jack Flash" from 1986-87 era starring Whoopi Goldberg as a poor computer tech who gets sucked into a British-Russian-American spy ring. (I've seen this movie truly more than I can count. I can literally recite every line everybody says...) About half way through the movie, Whoopi is on her way to the Elizabeth Arden salon in downtown Manhattan to try to get the snooty duchess-ex-girlfriend of a British spy to use her influence to help the British spy safely out of Russia. While on her way there Whoopi is accosted by the bad guys who shoot her full of truth serum to try to get her to talk and tell where the good spy is. She escapes them and shows up at Elizabeth Arden doped out of her mind on truth serum. A nerdy little guard named Earl tries to get her to stop at the door. Whoopi grabs him by the collar and says "You see this face, Earl? THIS IS THE FACE OF A WOMAN ON THE EDGE, EARL." I think I love this scene not only because it's hilarious, but because most of the time this describes my demeanor perfectly well!!!
richfed	Posted - February 23 2005 : 06:46:51 AM Having seen The Last of the Mohicans so many times, in so many ways, I can honestly say that [usually] it doesn't do much for me any more in the way of impact. So, at this numbed point, I guess the "I'm looking at you, Miss" scene still does it for me. Wade, I'm with you on The Alamo ... two great scenes, particularly the fiddle scene. Two other great movie moments that come to my mind immediately: My favorite: William Wallace being tortured & yelling "Freedom" in Braveheart. [Followed up with his best buddy throwing the sword toward the English, precipitating the Scottish charge]. Also, very powerful, in Gladiator: Maximus' confrontation with the Emperor in the Coliseum ... when he removes his helmet, blasts the Emperor, wins the crowd, and walks off.

Stephanie	Posted - February 22 2005 : 2:08:31 PM Hey Wade! What an interesting question. Not surprised something from Alamo made it on your list! I think the top of my list is a tie between two actresses who both do something a little unexpected in these scenes. First, of course, is Alice and the cliff scene. Breathtaking, even after seeing it a hundred times. I don't know how long a "movie moment" technically is, but the entire final segments of LOTM starting at the Huron village are out of sight, and I think just about everyone does their finest work in these scenes. The other top movie moment of mine is in Gone With the Wind, when Scarlett shows up at the birthday party after being caught embracing Ashley Wilkes. The room goes quiet, and Melanie approaches Scarlett with such a look on her face, you expect her to just tear into Scarlett. Instead, she greets her and welcomes her to the party, and without a word instructs others to do the same. That is pure Grace, and an incredible scene. Well there are others of course: --several scenes between Gus Macrae and Lorrie in Lonesome Dove would qualify as excellent movie moments --several scenes from Fried Green Tomatoes, including the parking lot smash scene and also when Smokey Lonesome doesn't let Frank take Miss Ruth's baby, man that's good stuff! --at the end of Tombstone when Wyatt (Kurt Russell) goes into Josie's dressing room, takes his hat off, and begins that little speech, "did you ever look out over the Rockies" or something like that. That whole final scene is AWESOME. It will be interesting to see how others answer this question. VERY hard to narrow it down to just a few!!!!!!!!!! Stephanie
