SCTV helped break a ton of stars in it's day. Of the shows cast, who was your favorite? Who was your favorite character and skit?

Well then, here's to a fellow 'Chilly Billy' and late-night horror/sci-fi fan. Huzzah!!!

I remember "Chiller Theater!!!" Used to see it during our four-or five-times yearly trips up to Pittsburgh. We later got our own version down here in Columbia, "Midnite Fright" or something similar. But "Chiller" was my first late night horror movie memory...

Well Dances, you and I are of the same generation who were fortunate enough to experience the Kings and Queens of late-night B-movie mania (And young enough at the time to enjoy the magic of it). Whether it was Chilly-Billy, Dr. Shock, Elvira, Ghost Host (Another Pittsburgh original on the former WPTT Channel-22), etc.; we were lucky to have lived during their heyday. With the advent of VCR's, DVD's, on-demand cable and TiVo, the world would not have to wait until late Saturday night to get their horror/sci-fi fix. Too bad, it was a fun era and one which sadly drew to a close.
(Sarge comes to the 'Recover' with his halberd, to render honors...)

I always loved that skit too! Especially the '3-D' episode, what a hoot! Once again Joe would insert Pittsburgh humor like "...oooo, its the blood-sucking bats from Upper St. Clair!" (A South Hills suburb) Even the title was an homage to Pittsburgh's own Bill Cardille and his 'Chiller Theater', which ran for over twenty years on WIIC Channel 11 (Now WPXI), a Saturday late-night double feature of classic horror and sci-fi movies. I used to love sneaking out of bed to watch it, and I had lost a lifetime worth of sleep because of it... Definitely worth it!!!

Wow, you learn something new every day! Not being from the Pittsburg area, the Pittsburg humor totally escaped me. But I still loved Count Floyd, and yes, I remember the 3-D skit!

Dances with Beagles noted: Count Floyd's Monster Horror Chiller Theater was good for quite few laughs, too!

Several years ago, I attended one of the 'Chiller Theater' family reunions at the Butler Days Inn Hotel, it was cool to meet the rest of the cast (Bill Cardille lived nearby me in McCandless Township at the time, and I had seen him alot over the years). I had a 'schoolboy crush' on both 'Terminal Stare' and 'Georgette', and both of the gals got a laugh out of my confession. I did a few shots with Stephen 'The Castle Prankster', and I got to mingle with other 'Chilly-Billy' Fans. It was a really memorable night...

You gotta love Tex and Edna Boyle's Organ Emporium commercials, and Edith Prickley. Andrea Martin was/is fabulous!

Count Floyd's Monster Horror Chiller Theater was good for quite few laughs, too!

I think SCTV is available on DVD....I seem to remember seeing it somewhere...

Sorry Sarge, I'm with Christina on this one, it's John Candy, hands down. When he'd host the "Johnny LaRue Show", do 4 jumping jacks, wheeze, light up and pull a giant sandwich out of the fridge...hilarious!

No doubt there was lots of talent all through the show. Anyone know if it's available on tape or DVD? I haven't seen it in years....

I have to go with Joe Flaherty, a CMU Grad who always found a way to insert a 'Pittsburgh Joke' into all of his skits.

I had forgotten just how many stars got their start from SCTV, but had to vote for my fave: John Candy. I think somebody posted this in another forum, but everytime I see one of his movies on TV I realize just how much I miss him. He was a true classic.
