Hollywood Movie Actor To Star in
WITCHES OF FAIRHAVEN
A Movie Penned By Whatcom County Writer
Hollywood movie actor Eric Shweig has committed to star in the feature length film written for Larry Green Productions in early 2004 by Whatcom County resident David T. Adams.
The movie, Witches of Fairhaven, is the story of a recovering alcoholic who is compelled to exploit his clairvoyant skills to hunt and destroy the leader of an evil coven gathering strength in the peaceful town of Fairhaven.
"I've even scared myself while writing this", exclaims Adams, "It's interesting how many creepy things come out of the woodwork when you work on a project like this!"
Adams is the Educational Coordinator for the Bellingham-based company, The Indie Film Group.
In addition to to one previous script sale, Adams has published several articles on the craft of screenwriting, and he has provided screenplay consultation for projects by writers working for Universal Studios as well as for those working independently.
Schweig launched his film career in 1992 with his role as Uncas in the Twentieth Century Fox feature The Last of the Mohicans. He most recently starred as the villain in Ron Howard's 2003 blockbuster release The Missing with Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett. Schweig's many other well-known credits include Tom & Huck, The Scarlet Letter, Squanto: A Warrior's Tale, and a co-starring role with Pierce Brosnan in The Broken Chain.
"Eric is a perfect choice to star in this film," boasts Larry Green, the producer of Witches of Fairhaven. "And I'm pleased to be doing something different... there just aren't many movies that star Native Americans."
Green looks forward to seeing this movie filmed primarily in and around Whatcom County beginning in the fall of 2005. "Anything can happen when you get this kind of Hollywood attention!" says Green.
The script continues to get its fair share of attention. It recently captured the interest of director Irwin Kershner (The Empire Strikes Back, Robocop II) and special effects master Ray Harryhausen (Jason and The Argonauts, 7th Voyage of Sinbad).
Green launched his career in the film industry after a three-year stint as U.S. Merchandising Liason for Lucasfilm Ltd. during the production of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. With the support of Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, Green formed Larry Green Productions (LPG) in 1983. The company specializes in publishing and distributing movie posters for such companies as MGM/UA, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, and Paramount, for which Green designed the posters. His experience in the film industry has included producer credits for several projects, including the Academy Award nominated documentary feature Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol.

...Larry Green, a film producer who moved to Bellingham seven years ago, said he got to know some young ghosts when he was a boy in Hartford, Conn. A boy and girl wearing old-style clothes would come from the apartment downstairs to play with him, he said. Turns out no kids lived downstairs, Green said. Then there was the time Green and his dad heard footsteps on the stairs and saw a heavy oak door slam shut twice.
"I believed in ghosts, or whatever people call ghosts, from an early age," Green said.
Now he believes Bellingham would be a great place to film "Witches of Fairhaven", and he's working to make it happen. The story is about a contemporary Indian shaman who gets caught up in a demon war in a seaside town full of haunted houses and gothic kids. There's a surprise ending, and it's all very dark and scary.
"You do have witches riding brooms, but it's not Harry Potter," Green said.
He says he's got a childhood friend (Richard Schenkman) working on the script, another friend (Eric Schweig of "The Missing") to star in it, and Irvin Kershner ("The Empire Strikes Back") interested in directing it.
For now, Green is waiting for the new script and wants to scare up some local investors. Once the pieces fall into place, Green hopes local government officials will work with him to expedite filming in Fairhaven.
"Kershner agrees this would be a perfect place to shoot," he said.
