Posted - January 18 2004 : 4:22:49 PM Few directors in Hollywood have had careers as long and illustrious as that of the legendary John Ford. His collaborations with John Wayne are some of the finest examples of the American Western film genre. Of the listed John Ford films, which is your favorite? |

Posted - October 09 2006 : 08:52:56 AM Well, I actually adore Donovan's Reef! For light, romantic comedy, it is quite fine. And the older Duke was at his sexiest. However, I did not vote for it as the best one. It's not. I also did not vote for Drums/Mohawk, even though I enjoy it very much.
Of the ones on the list that I have seen, my vote for the best Ford-Wayne collaboration is Stage Coach. Especially for its fairly early vintage, I think it is very well done. The character definitions are excellent and the "strangers traveling together and being forced to endure adversity together" theme is very well presented. Plus, it's pretty nice lookin' at the very young, handsome Duke! |

Posted - October 09 2006 : 07:42:05 AM Well, I'm not a "movie buff" in any way, - but I did see "The Quiet Man" and thought it was done very well. I recall reading that it was John Waynes favorite of all the movies that he had made. |

SWAYR and TMWSLV trail it by a slim margin.
Donovan's Reef?? How could any movie directed by John Ford and starring Duke Wayne and Lee Marvin be such a POS? Maybe it should have taken place in Monument Valley... |
