Posted - January 09 2004 : 7:11:45 PM I love The Andy Griffith Show and I loved it as a kid. I guess that Don Knotts was probably the main reason that I love this show so much, but all of the characters were great!!! I picked Andy Griffith in the poll, but it was very hard because I have seen almost all of the other shows and movies, and Don Knotts was great in all of them, except for Three's Company. For me, his character just wasn't very funny, or maybe I was just used to Mr. Roper in that show.

Posted - January 09 2004 : 4:40:34 PM I agree that "The Andy Griffith Show" could be boring. I appreciate it more now, however, as a kid it was too slow. I had to vote for "The Incredible Mr. Limpet". It's a hilarious combo of animation and live action. Don Knotts is transformed into a fish, teams up with a crab and fights Nazi u-boats. "Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo" was also right up there as was his role as the swinging "Mr. Furley" on Three's Company. Don Knott's is a grand master of physical comedy. Right up there with the likes of Keaton, Chaplin, The Three Stooges, and Laurel and Hardy.

Posted - January 07 2004 : 5:48:07 PM I have a soft spot for "Apple Dumpling Gang." I saw that movie when I was six and went on my first ever "date" to a movie with the 7-year-old boy next door. And even today when I see it, I think that movie is hilarious. On the right level for kids, funny enough for grown ups to enjoy without feeling like they've been dipped in saccharine! As for "Andy Griffith," I'm going to be drummed out of the life-long, born and bred Southerner club because even though Knotts was hilarious, I've always found that show itself boring. Still, just about anything Knotts does is worth watching especially if you like good old-fashioned slapstick! |
