Posted - November 03 2003 : 11:03:50 PM Okay, this one's a little weird. Check out-
www.bubbahotep.com
Watch the trailer and share any reaction. I'm gonna love it because I love Bruce Campbell, I'm not sure how the rest of the world will feel though. I guess, though, that if you love movies about either Elvis, JFK, or evil ancient Egyptian mummies that murder rest-home residents this one will be right up your alley. Any thoughts appreciated. |

Posted - December 02 2008 : 2:04:25 PM Currently, Bruce is co-starring in a cable series (which starts new episodes in Jan) called "Burn Notice." This will be its 3rd or 4th season, I believe...I'm really hooked on it. |

Posted - December 02 2008 : 12:00:21 PM I remember The Adventures of Brisco County Jr Obi and I loved that show. Bruce was excellent in it but, like you said, only lasted a Season. Hubby liked it as well. Not too many shows we could watch together but that was one of them. Why do all the good shows get canned?. Well I do associate him with the Evil Dead movies as well and of course the movie "Congo". Don't really see him in much nowadays. What on earth has happened to him?. Give up acting or been abducted by Aliens me thinks. |

Posted - December 02 2008 : 10:33:26 AM Bruce Campbell! When I hear his name, I don't think of Army of the Dead or any of those; I think of what is possibly my favorite TV series of all time, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. Who could forget Brisco or Lord Bowler or Socrates Poole, to say nothing of Billy Drago's evil John Bly ("so far off the wall he was in the next room"), or my personal favorite, Peter Hutter (and his classic line, "nobody touches Pete's piece!"). Oops, I almost forgot Brisco's true love, Dixie Cousins. Neat trivia department, who knows the actor who played Brisco County SR? Why, everyone's favorite Gunny, R. Lee Ermey!
It's really too bad that Brisco County only lasted a single season; I'll never understand this, especially since the show started at the same time as that useless POS, X-Files, which drug on for years and years and years... |

Posted - December 02 2008 : 09:04:01 AM Okay this movie looks like one of those that are right up my alley!! Love, love Bruce Campbell, especially in Army of Darkness 1&2. So I think this one will be enjoyed but only by a certain portion of the audience. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'm looking forward to it! |

Posted - November 30 2008 : 4:08:21 PM Looks like Bubba Nosferatu is a go. Websites are starting to report on this, with Ron Perlman (yes, *that* Ron Perlman from Hellboy and Beauty and the Beast) as Elvis. This I gotta see...!

Posted - November 02 2006 : 12:39:05 AM I watched the DVD of this a year ago ... really, really weird. As much as I love watching Bruce Campbell, I think this was another poor choice of scripts on his part. |

Posted - September 18 2006 : 7:31:27 PM Not sure what to make of this one. The trailer was okay but I would not deliberatley go out and pay money to see it. Probably give it a try if it comes out on DVD or is on the telly. Does seem "strange" but could be funny. I would need to see more than the trailer to really give a good opinion. Never heard of this before so thanks for sharing. |

Posted - September 18 2006 : 6:26:20 PM I loved it~it's not everyone's idea of funny, but I don't think I've ever laughed so hard!
...If/when they *do* make "Bubba Nosferatu", I'm in! It's a shame Ossie Davis passed away before reprising his role as JFK .
(Man, I think I just messed up something-- a smiley may appear where I don't want it to 'cause I can't unselect it! Well, it looks okay in Preview. let's see if this goes through...)

Posted - August 24 2004 : 2:52:28 PM Kaylynn- agreed. There is vulgarity and Elvis' situation is rather, mmmm.... disturbing. It was made by a couple of guys who brought you some of the 1980's most successful horror film franchise's. Don Coscarelli made the "Phantasm" series and Bruce Campbell is the star of the "Evil Dead" series. There was usually gore and some sexual content, definitely R rated films. Bubba Ho-Tep is not too gory and there's not a lot of sexual content other than that which sets to show us the pathetic condition of both body and mind that Elvis has come to. He's a pretty tragic figure, with a "-growth on my pecker man" The film doesn't get horribly graphic at any point it mostly just puts ugly images in your head. Not everyone's cup of tea. |

Posted - August 24 2004 : 10:51:50 AM Kay,
Don & I just watched Cold Mountain last week for the first time. We agree with you - Renee Z. was great. I was also fascinated by the old sheep woman who took Inman in for a while. For the most part, I thought the acting was good and we enjoyed the music. My biggest disappointment was the scenery. It may have been close, but I really didn't think the vegetation looked like North Carolina mountains.

Posted - August 22 2004 : 8:35:23 PM Susquesus, I'm sorry, but I couldn't get through the first five minutes of this movie. I really didn't want to hear all about the problems with a certain part of his anatomy. I know, I can't judge the movie by the first few minutes, but maybe I will give it another try later on. It is on PPV. That is the only way that I watch movies since we don't go to theaters to watch them. Speaking of movies that are on PPV, I just watched Cold Mountain, and I really liked it, but it would have been very boring without Renee Zellwegger. My husband said that she was the star of that movie and I agree with him.

Posted - August 22 2004 : 6:46:09 PM I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, but- I just bought this dvd and love it! It's a fun watch, here's the summary from IMDB:
Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by cult author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the "true" story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis (Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death", then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.
