Posted - March 06 2005 : 5:01:47 PM I haven't heard anything about the Leaphorn/Chee PBS latest movie. Think it's supposed to be Dancehall of the Dead. Does anyone have any info on it? |

Posted - November 24 2004 : 11:00:11 PM I just got the newest book by Tony Hillerman, Skeleton Man. Pre-ordered it from Amazon and it came in the mail 4 days later, really super fast shipping. Got a 40% discount on it too. Since the filming of these movies only take 3 to 4 weeks, I'm assuming that Dancehall of the Dead is already a wrap and we'll get to see it in a few months. |

Posted - July 17 2004 : 08:15:40 AM I just watched "Thief of Time" on our local PBS station the other night. Wes Studi turned in an excellent performance, as always, and Adam Beach and the rest of the cast did a good job, as well. It was great to see Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal working together again - remember them in "Dances With Wolves"? Peter Fonda played an interesting character, as well. I agree with what pueblo52 said about the humor and depth of character in this one, it was really good!
I've never read any of Tony Hillerman's books but I have thoroughly enjoyed watching "Skinwalkers," "Coyote Waits" and "Thief of Time." Are there plans for more installments in this series? |

Posted - July 12 2004 : 06:14:46 AM Coyote Waits has been out on dvd for a while, I've also pre-ordered Thief of Time and it will be here the middle of this month. It was by far the best of the 3 shows so far. More depth of character, and a lot of humor. It's being repeated nearly every night on PBS this week, well worth watching... |

Posted - July 11 2004 : 6:48:03 PM Hi BW, I'm not for sure if "Coyote Waits" is out on DVD yet or not. I haven't seen it, but I would check with Amazon.com and see if they have it there.

Posted - April 07 2004 : 08:46:06 AM Also, Wes says the next Hillerman book to be made into a PBS Mystery is "Dance Hall of the Dead". Although not "official" they plan to start filming in late summer or fall. |

Posted - April 07 2004 : 08:43:05 AM "Thief of Time" premieres July 11 and is aired again on July 17th. Here is a brief summary of the plot: July 11 (premiere) & July 17 (encore) A Thief of Time (120 minutes) An archaeologist turned pottery poacher thinks she has cracked the secret of the vanished Anasazi when she herself vanishes. When other poachers start dropping dead, Leaphorn and Chee must piece together a case as complicated as the mysteriously decorated pots that the killer covets. Wes Studi (Dances with Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans) and Adam Beach (Smoke Signals, Windtalkers) reprise their roles as Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn and Officer Jim Chee. Peter Fonda (Easy Rider, Ulee's Gold) and Graham Greene (Dances With Wolves) guest-star. Longtime Hillerman fan Robert Redford is again executive producer and Chris Eyre (Smoke Signals) returns as director of this Southwestern whodunit, shot on location throughout New Mexico.
For up to the minute information visit Wes Studi's message board. |

Posted - March 15 2004 : 6:42:59 PM Oops, I hit the wrong button and goofed<G>. I was surfing the web looking for the dvd's of Skinwalkers and Coyote Waits when I stumbled in here and found this thread. I taped the 2 movies from PBS on vhs but will get them in dvd, also have all the Leaphorn/Chee books. Studi and Beach are perfect and am waiting for A Thief of Time. Also got the 1992 Lou Diamond Phillips/Fred Ward movie, Dark Wind. YUK, lol. Saw a few real Navajos in it but little else. Hard to stay awake thru that one. |

Posted - November 20 2003 : 12:42:02 PM Hi, Everyone,
Our local PBS station just broadcast "Coyote Waits" last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it! So many plot twists I could hardly keep up - good stuff! Can't wait for "A Thief Of Time" which is supposed to air sometime next spring!
Still hard to get used to seeing our "Magua" dressed in modern clothes & driving a car & using a cell phone, though! |

Posted - October 29 2003 : 8:36:25 PM Thanks for the heads-up, W.W.! I watched 'Skinwalkers' and thought Wes Studi and Adam Beach were great in it.
I won't get to see 'Coyote Waits' until later in the month, but I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've seen Keith Carradine.
