In a poll of Best F&I war films Hawkeye Joe warned us that "Pathfinder" starring Kevin Dillon was the god-awfullest film about the war other than "Fort Ti" a film originally filmed in 3-d where all the knives and tomahawks are thrown right at the camera. Now is your chance to judge. It will be shown on the Western channel today (October 6th) at 11am CST and on October 14th at 7am and pm CST. The description reads as follows:

"Captain Horn and Rogers' Rangers raid Fort Ticonderoga during the French and Indian War. Originally 3-D. Starring: George Montgomery; Joan Vohs; Irving Bacon. 1953-Drama"

If anyone has time to check it out I'd love to get some reactions.

Ya know, it wasn't all that bad. Sure all the Native Americans were white folks with bad make-up, but, it was a film devoted to my favorite era. I'm not sure how it would have been in 3-d but I'd watch it again. Of course one of my favorite shows of all time is "Mystery Science Theater 3000"(another product of MN-the winters are far too long and cold here, it affects our minds). I guess my tastes are a bit skewed to the weird.

Just a reminder "Fort Ti" is on tonight 7pm CST on Encore Westerns. It's lookin' pretty hot!

Thanks for the clairification of that, Susquesus. Unfortunately it is not an option from the cable vendor in my area. I'll just have to wait till it appears on AMC.

DID YOU KNOW?
Fort Ti (1953) can lay claim to two cinematic firsts, both connected with the 3-D process. It was the first film to be shown in full 3-D on British television (in December of 1982), and it was the first 3-D film in which an actor spits at the audience.

Directed by Horror Mogul William Castle (13 ghosts, House on Haunted Hill, The Tingler)

Just be ready to duck those flaming arrows and the tomahawks thrown at you. After watching this one go rent "Drums Along the Mohawk".. get a large mug of mulled cider and see what a "good" period film is like.

I'll have to check into that Encore package.. I love old westerns and old horror movies..

*Smiles*

Sarge- it's actually called the "Encore Western" channel. "Encore" is an optional part of our cable service in my area, I believe it's also part of DirectTV and Dish Network. The "Encore" package includes: "Wam"-childrens/horror/scifi movies from the 70's and 80's; "Encore" standard- box office hits; "Love"- sappy movies; "Mystery"- contemporary mysteries to Sherlock Holmes films from the 30's; "Westerns"- Westerns from all era's, even the occasional Teutonic Horse Opera-the best of the Encore selections; "True Stories"- any film based on fact from any era; and finally "Action"- shoot 'em ups new and old;

I do not have that channel on my cable service, do they have any affilation with American Movie Classics?
